Elon Musk has been on the receiving end of a tirade of boos as a crowd let their thoughts known about his takeover of Twitter.

The journey of Twitter since Musk's $44 billion takeover in October 2022 has been anything but smooth sailing, especially since it's no longer even called Twitter.

It's now called X, which nobody will ever get used to saying, seemingly because it's the billionaire owner's favorite letter.

As well as now having to pay for a blue check mark, which was used previously to identify celebs and public figures, a span of other changes have seemingly turned people against Musk.

While attending the Valorant Champions 2023 event, a competition where top-notch gamers compete for a staggering prize pool of over $2 million, the reception Musk received was anything but friendly.

As Musk's image graced the screens, a wave of both applause and disapproval swept through the Los Angeles arena. The atmosphere seemed to be split, reflecting a blend of sentiments toward the high-profile guest.

In a rather unexpected turn, amongst the boisterous cheers, a chorus of boos resonated in response to Musk's presence.

Amidst the vocal reactions, a chant echoed, demanding the resurrection of the familiar social media platform, as the crowd yelled: "Bring back Twitter." This vocalization of dissatisfaction seemed to originate from a collective yearning for a return to the platform's previous state, one that has seemingly transformed over recent months.

Following Musk's takeover last year, a substantial workforce reduction ensued as Musk embarked on a mission to rejuvenate the company and lead it out of its financial woes.

Notably, the character limit for tweets was extended, allowing users to craft lengthier posts compared to the previous confinements of 280 characters - though you have to pay for this privilege.

On the rebranding from Twitter to X, Linda Yaccarino, who Musk hired as the chief executive of Twitter last month, gave more details about what the X app will hold.

"X is the future state of unlimited interactivity - centered in audio, video, messaging, payments/banking - creating a global marketplace for ideas, goods, services, and opportunities. Powered by AI, X will connect us all in ways we’re just beginning to imagine," she said.

"For years, fans and critics alike have pushed Twitter to dream bigger, to innovate faster, and to fulfill our great potential. X will do that and more. We’ve already started to see X take shape over the past 8 months through our rapid feature launches, but we’re just getting started," she added.

Bizarrely, Musk has been using a lot of his time to feud with Mark Zuckerberg, leading to what appears to be a cage fight between the two.

This is on account of the pair owning rival social media companies, and Zuckerberg extending his monopoly by releasing Threads, which appeared to directly rival Twitter.

Whatever your thoughts on Musk, the last year has been anything but boring.
