Presley Gerber shared a close relationship with George Clooney before his passing, and it's been revealed that the seasoned actor offered him emotional advice.
The 27-year-old passed away at a rehab center on Sunday (September 20) after years of battling addiction.
Presley, the only son of supermodel Cindy Crawford, is suspected to have died of an overdose, with a 911 dispatch call revealing that an automated voice was heard saying “cardiac arrest” and “overdose.”
The address given in the call also matched the California rehab center where Presley was at the time.
Following his death, his mother Cindy, father Rande Gerber, and younger sister Kaia Gerber have asked for privacy.
According to reports, Cindy is struggling to come to terms with his death, as she was described as being “devastated” and “inconsolable”.
Now, Clooney's final message to Presley has been revealed.
Following his passing, the Gerber family confirmed the tragic news in a joint statement, which read: “The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time.”
According to Page Six, Presley didn't appear sober when he arrived at the rehab facility just days before his death, but 'knew he needed help'.
A source explained 'he had not been doing well', adding: "He’s always suffered from a huge lack of self-esteem and had trouble accepting his real self and feeling fully confident in who he was as a person."
It has now been reported that Clooney told the male model that he was 'here for him' before his death.
Clooney, whom Presley and his sister Kaia call 'Uncle George', was always there to offer advice, according to the Daily Mail.
A source close to the ER star said that the actor 'would spend hours' speaking to Presley, adding: "George is the nicest guy in the world and would do anything to help Rande’s family."
Clooney and Rande Gerber are longtime close friends and business partners, having co-founded tequila company Casamigos together.
The source added: “Especially after Presley got a DUI, George would advise, ‘Don’t do that, it’s not smart. Be careful,'
“More recently, George shared loving notes like, ‘I am here for you,’ that kind of stuff.”
A second source, said to be close to Clooney's wife, Amal, claimed that the pair were 'close', and that 'Presley was more than just a friend’s kid. They had a bond.'
Someone close to the Ocean's Eleven star stated that Clooney's message to the young model was always 'stay clean', after his own run-ins with drugs.
Speaking to the publication, they explained: “He was never addicted, but he tried it and he knows about the attraction to drugs, so he could talk openly with Presley about this and Presley could relate.”
Clooney was left shocked by news of Presley's death, with another alleged source saying: “George is sick over this because Rande is his best friend and everyone felt for Presley.”
They added that there is a 'deep sadness', especially since Presley had issues with anxiety and depression.
