The couple - who got married while Gypsy Rose was still behind bars for her part in the murder of her mother - split earlier this year, just three months after her release.

Gypsy Rose quickly moved on with her ex, Ken Urker, having recently rekindled their romance, and soon announced that they would be having a baby together, too.

She and Ryan had announced their split in April and she went public with the news that she was pregnant with Ken's baby in July, despite still legally being married to her ex.

According to Louisiana state law, the fact that the divorce hasn't been finalized yet means that when her baby is born, it must have a DNA test to establish whether the father is Ken or Ryan.

Ryan shared his thoughts during a TikTok livestream on Saturday (August 10), telling his followers: "I have to get a DNA test. I don't have a choice," adding: "I hate being in this situation."

Explaining why it's necessary, he said, as reported by People: "I have to take a DNA test for court. The way the timeline matches up — I don't think it's mine, but I don't know.

"The DNA test is going to prove it. Crazier things have happened. I just don't know. I have my thoughts and I have my opinions."

Gypsy Rose and Ryan had been married since 2022, though she spent much of their marriage behind bars after serving eight years of a 10-year sentence for orchestrating the murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard.

Dee Dee had spent Gypsy Rose's young life convincing doctors to give her several medical procedures she never needed, until the young woman discovered she was a victim of Munchausen by proxy, and planned to kill her mother so she could finally be free to live a normal life.

She and Ryan announced their split in April and she and Ken revealed they were expecting in July, stating that their baby would be born in January 2025 - meaning it would have been conceived around April.

A Louisiana attorney told the outlet that as Ryan is still Gypsy Rose's legal husband, he could be listed as the father on the baby's birth certificate if it is both before the divorce is finalized.

Louisiana law states: "If the mother is married to someone other than the biological father when the child was conceived or has been divorced for less than 300 days at the time of birth, the husband/ex-husband shall be the presumed father, unless paternity is established for the biological father."

If Ken wants to have his name on the birth certificate, Ryan would have to sign an affidavit saying Ken is the father, and if he won't do this, Ken will have to file a motion with the courts and all three will be required to submit DNA tests to establish paternity.

Attorney Beau Brock told People: "All the laws in Louisiana concerning paternity are designed to protect the child and make sure the child has a father and a mother to provide for them. So that presumption can be overcome by DNA and that's what people have to do.

"If the husband goes and signs the affidavit along with the boyfriend, then the true father, if you will, if it's the boyfriend's name, will go on the birth certificate.

"In these kinds of situations, we always recommend to do a DNA test because there are overlapping hookups that are possible. You don't know."

Despite the legal issues overshadowing this happy time for Gypsy Rose and Ken, the couple recently revealed that their baby is going to be a girl.

And Ryan also spoke out on TikTok live to defend Gypsy Rose, adding: "I’m always going to have love for [her].

"She was my wife and I did marry her, you know? If anyone is going to bash her, it should be me. I just don’t get the hate … If I can overlook it and accept the way things are. If I’m not bashing her, why ya’ll need to?"
