Hugh Jackman's wife and fellow actor Deborra-Lee Furness has responded to the rumors that The Wolverine actor is gay. Appearing on Aussie show Anh’s Brush With Fame, she referred to the speculations about her husband's sexual orientation as "made up" and "mean-spirited".
"He’s been gay so many years," she said in jest. "I was gay too. You know when I did Shame? I was gay. They were shocked when I got married."
Furness added: "It’s just wrong. It’s like someone saying to Elton John: ‘He’s straight.’ I’m sure he’d be pissed."

The Australian actress then delved into the first time she met the now-Hollywood hunk.
"We just had this amazing connection. And I feel blessed that I experienced… that I feel like I met my soulmate, whatever that is."
The 64-year-old also revealed that she doesn't take kindly to be being referred to as "lucky" to be married to her 51-year-old husband.
"People don’t realize, it’s actually rude to say that," she said. "‘Lucky’ because he’s a stud-muffin, you know, but that’s showbiz and Hollywood and the brand of Hugh Jackman."
Furness also recalled how back in 2008, Jackman was named the Sexiest Man Alive. However, she said the honor didn't change a single thing about their relationship. In fact, the first thing Furness told him when it was announced was to "take out the trash."
"Hey sexy, your turn with the garbage," she added.
It's been a tough time for some couples who have essentially been forced to spend 24/7 together for much of the pandemic. However, Jackman told Extra in the summer that lockdown had actually brought him and his wife closer together.

"Literally, my wife is dancing behind the camera as we speak," Jackman said. "We were just saying the other day — we have never spent this much time together. But having this time without either of us working, being with the family … we've had this opportunity to be together, and the results are in: closer."
Jackman and Furness met all the way back in 1995 on the set of Correlli, an Australian TV show. They got married in 1996 and had two children together, a boy, Oscar Maximilian, and a girl, Ava Eliot.
