John Stamos isn't just a famous television actor and shameless Jonas Brothers stan - he's also a musician who has performed with The Beach Boys since 1985. (For those of you not in a nursing home, the Beach Boys were the Jonas Brothers of the 1960's.) In 1992, Stamos sang lead vocals for a cover of the Beach Boys' 1970 hit, Forever, which was featured twice on the hit sitcom Full House.
For many people, Stamos will always be 'Uncle Jesse,' Danny Tanner's cool, irresponsible brother-in-law, who idolized Elvis Presley. (For those of you not in a nursing home, Elvis Presley was the Justin Bieber of the 1950's). Uncle Jesse played in a struggling band called The Rippers, and Forever became their flagship song. Years after the series ended, Stamos reprised the character, singing Forever on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and the Netflix revival Fuller House.
When you grow older, it gets harder to do a lot of things, like lose weight, sleep all night without peeing, and get away with bribing USC officials with half a million dollars to get your lackluster daughters into college as star rowing athletes despite not being part of a rowing team. And it's also more difficult to perform concerts.
While playing with The Beach Boys in Dallas, Texas, Stamos suffered an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction. Just after stepping on stage, he ripped his pants. (I guess that's why they call them Jesse and the Rippers! Cue Full House laugh track.) Reportedly the trousers were part of a $5,080 three-piece suit, but the 55-year-old actor took it in stride.
"First time [fashion designer] @TOMFORD has ever let me down," Stamos tweeted. "Ripped pants five minutes in to @TheBeachBoys show in Dallas. I think that Jonas kid is behind this! (or my butt is getting bigger --) #Rippers #Beachbums."
Recently Stomas and the "Jonas kid" took part in a hilarious, Inception-style prank war. Stamos was spotted wearing a Jonas Brothers shirt at an event, then Nick Jonas posted a photo on Instagram wearing a shirt with an image of Stamos wearing a Jonas Brothers shirt, then Stamos posted a photo sleeping on a pillow with an image of Jonas wearing a shirt with an image of Stamos wearing a Jonas Brothers shirt - you get the idea.
The battle finally ended with Stamos posted a photo where he appeared to getting a giant tattoo of Nick Jonas' face. In the comments, the 24-year-old singer wrote, "Okay, okay…," which seemed like he was conceding defeat.
But maybe that reaction was just a feint, and Jonas secretly replaced Stamos' trousers with an exact replica, but a few sizes too small, dooming him to suffer an embarrassing moment on stage. If so, then well-played, Nick Jonas! I guess no one ever taught you to...have mercy. (Cue Full House laugh track.)
