Singer Katy Perry appeared to be chasing a little extra luck during a recent trip to Rome, after sharing a mischievous video of herself at the famous Trevi Fountain.
In the clip, posted to Instagram on Sunday, the 'Unconditionally' singer stood in front of the iconic landmark wearing a grey hoodie and jokingly sang: “Someone give me a penny.”
She then referenced her 2017 track 'Save as Draft', telling her followers: “Y'all, I told you in ‘Save as Draft’ that I don't f**k with change,” a nod to the lyric: *“I don't f**k with change, but lately, I've been flipping coins a lot.”*
Rather than tossing a coin into the fountain, as is tradition among most tourists, Perry decided to improvise, and unsurprisingly, her methods proved a little unconventional.
Explaining that she wanted to do something “for good luck,” the singer briefly placed her credit card into the water before quickly pulling it back out before it drifted away.
The Trevi Fountain, one of Rome’s most visited attractions, was completed in 1762 and attracts more than 10 million visitors every year, as well as amassing $1.6 million a year from tourists throwing coins into the water.
Perry captioned the post: “Just Rome'ing around,” alongside a series of photos and videos from her trip.
The post also included footage from a private concert she performed on Saturday at La Nuvola, where she was seen singing her 2010 hit 'The One That Got Away'.
In another clip, Perry posed in front of St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City, wearing a black-and-white dress while sightseeing.
At one point, she could be heard jokingly singing: “Pope Leo, hallelujah,” in a playful nod to the first American head of the Catholic church.
The singer also shared a more personal moment from the trip, posting a screenshot of herself on FaceTime with her five-year-old daughter Daisy Dove while relaxing in the bath, covering the child’s face with a shark emoji.
Perry shares Daisy with her former fiancé, Orlando Bloom, with whom she split from in 2025 after seven years together.
Her latest social media post comes amid renewed attention following allegations made by Ruby Rose, who recently accused the singer of sexual assault in relation to an alleged incident in Melbourne in 2010.
Victoria Police confirmed that detectives from the Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team are now looking into the historic complaint.
A police spokesperson said: “Melbourne Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team (SOCIT) detectives are investigating a historical sexual assault that occurred in Melbourne in 2010.
“Police have been told the incident occurred at a licensed premises in Melbourne’s CBD. As the investigation remains ongoing, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage.”
Perry has strongly denied the allegations through a representative, who said: “The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous, reckless lies.”
The statement continued: “Ms Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named.”
