Singer Katy Perry is being investigated by Australian police following sexual assault allegations made against her by Ruby Rose.
Rose, 40, took to Threads on Sunday (April 12) and replied to an article about Perry, making a number of bombshell statements against the artist.
The Aussie actress was replying to an article about the singer attending Coachella, saying: “Katy Perry sexual assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a s*** what she thinks.”
Perry's team has since denied these claims, while Rose subsequently made a number of other posts related to the topic, before revealing that she had gone to authorities over the allegations.
Rose then told fans that she could no longer publicly speak about the condition after she "finalized all of my reports."
The former manager of the nightclub in Melbourne has also given his account of events that night, claiming he "wasn’t aware of any alleged assault."
Now, though, local police have released a statement about the case.
The Orange Is The New Black actress said after alleging that she was sexually assaulted: “I was only in my early 20s. I’m now 40.
“It has taken almost 2 decades to say this publicly.
“Though I am so grateful to have made it long enough to find my voice, it just shows how much of an impact trauma and sexual assault takes.”
Rose added: “She didn’t kiss me. She saw me ‘resting’ on my best friends lap to avoid her and bent down, pulled her underwear to the side and rubbed her disgusting vagina on my face till my eyes snapped open and I projectile vomited on her.”
She said that it became a "funny little drunk story" as she didn't know how to handle it, claiming that she kept quiet about it as Perry helped her get a US visa.
Police confirmed that an investigation has been opened into the artist, saying in a statement to the Daily Mail: "Melbourne Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team (SOCIT) detectives are investigating a historical sexual assault that occurred in Melbourne in 2010,
"Police have been told the incident occurred at a licensed premises in Melbourne’s CBD.
"As the investigation remains ongoing, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage."
The 'Teenage Dream' singer's team unequivocally denied claims made by Rose, stating: “The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous reckless lies.
“Ms. Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named.”
The actress and model updated fans after deleting her posts about Perry, saying on social media: "Hi! Last update on this:
"As of this afternoon, I have finalized all of my reports. This means I am no longer able to comment, repost, or talk publicly about any of those cases, or the individuals involved.
"It’s going to look like I am ignoring everything from supportive messages, to other people’s experiences, but I’m not.
"This is a standard request from the police and in many ways, quite the relief.
"I can start the healing process now. And temporary move forward. (sic)
"I love you all so much," she concluded.
The actress made a number of claims after her initial post, explaining that "as a woman," opening up on women-on-women violence and sexual abuse is "100 times harder" than speaking about male predators.
One follower suggested that she might have been speaking in connection to an old Twitter feud with Perry, which dates all the way back to 2017.
Rose had called Perry's track 'Swish Swish' "purposeful poop" at the time, though she would address her comments a day later, saying on X at the time: "Being mean doesn't suit me and leaves me feeling dirty.
"Truth is being mean leaves more leaks in your camp than the Titanic and I get so triggered when I think bullies don't get held accountable and it makes me think I should say something... but it's not [my] place."
While claiming at first that she's "not interested in filing a report" over her sexual assault allegations, Rose seems to have backtracked from this stance.
She further stated this week: "[Perry] is more than welcome to sue me (she won’t, because it happened, I have photos and it was literally in public and witnessed by multiple people),
"Plus there is so much more that happened in the years leading up to her silly song she won’t want me discussing. The psychological manipulation was strong with that one."
