Leonardo DiCaprio has awkward response as Nikki Glaser makes dig at his younger girlfriends at Golden Globes
Nikki Glaser didn’t hold back during her return to the Golden Globes stage, and Leonardo DiCaprio was front and center in her comedic crosshairs. The 41-year-old comedian opened the 2026 awards ceremony with a fiery set that quickly got the audience buzzing, thanks to a series of sharp jabs aimed at some of Hollywood’s most famous faces.
DiCaprio, 51, who attended the show at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on Sunday, found himself the target of Glaser’s opening bit. Referring to his well-known history of dating younger women, Glaser cracked, "Leonardo DiCaprio is here for 'one man bun after another' ... what a career you've had, countless iconic performances, you've worked with every great director, you've won three Golden Globes, an Oscar and the most impressive thing is you were able to accomplish all of that before your girlfriend turned 30." DiCaprio smiled and looked down as the crowd laughed.
Glaser didn’t stop there. She followed up with, "Leo, I'm sorry I made that joke, it's cheap. I tried not to but, you know, we don't know anything else about you, man. There's nothing else, open up." To underscore her point, she added, "the most in-depth interview you've ever given was in Teen Beat magazine in 1991," and then jokingly asked, "Is your favorite food still pasta, pasta and more pasta?" DiCaprio responded with a laugh, a point, and a thumbs up.
Glaser’s return to the Golden Globes wasn’t short on confidence
This marked Glaser’s second year hosting the annual ceremony, and she came in ready to take bigger swings. Speaking to PEOPLE before the event, she said, "There's lots to joke about this year — and the star power in the room is going to be bigger than ever. I mean, it's bigger than last year."
DiCaprio’s latest film One Battle After Another led the nominations this year, and Glaser joked ahead of the show, "I mean, Leo's vape pen is going to be there. So excited to see that." She admitted trying to avoid the “Leo jokes we’ve heard 25 times,” but clearly, some classics were too tempting to skip.
"My goal is always to try to not do what's expected or try to challenge myself to not say the thing that people are going to expect and try something else," she said. "That's going to be the challenge this year, is just finding anything else about [DiCaprio] that is right for mockery, but not mockery."
She roasts because she respects them
Glaser clarified that her jabs always come from a place of admiration. "Also, he's a legend and was incredible in One Battle [After Another]," she said. "So that's also the other thing — as long as I really like these people and respect what they do, I can get away with saying something negative."
She added that when she’s truly a fan, she goes harder, because audiences can sense the affection behind it. "There's going to be some big, big hitters in the room, and there's podcasts this year, which is also going to be a hilarious thing to joke about.”
The 2026 Golden Globes aired on CBS and streamed on Paramount+, drawing attention not just for the winners, but for the bold humor that kicked off the night.
