If there's one celebrity out there who isn't afraid to take on the trolls and body shamers, it's Lizzo.

The 'Juice' singer often uses her popular Instagram page to advocate for body positivity and has uploaded countless snaps and videos of herself flaunting her curves to clap back at her body-shaming haters.

But how does she manage to ignore the cruel comments and bullying tactics employed by trolls on social media? Lizzo has just opened up about it all in a candid new interview, revealing how she rises above it all.

In an interview with David Letterman on his Netflix talk show My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, the host spoke to Lizzo about the endless comments she receives on the subject of her body shape.

Per Buzzfeed, the 32-year-old plus-sized musician told Letterman:

"It bothered me for a long time that all people could talk about, or think about, was my size. I didn't like it when people condemned me for it, and it also kinda rubbed me the wrong way when I was praised, like, 'You're so brave.'

"They thought that they were complimenting me by saying that I was unapologetic, and I'm like, 'What do I have to apologize for?'"

Letterman and Lizzo also spoke about the subject of the police shooting of Jamar Clark:

Lizzo continued: "I'm sick of being an activist just because I'm fat and Black.

"I want to be an activist because I'm intelligent. Because I care about issues. Because my music is good. Because I want to help the world."

She added:

"I think when people see somebody who is free, they like to label them as an other ... Especially the people who hate, that doesn't really break my heart. Like, I'm fine.

"I know that I'm beautiful. And I know that I'm a f***ing bad b***h. And I'm successful and popping. And I know I'm healthy."

Indeed, Lizzo has never been shy about using her social media to call out perceived double standards. Back in March, she took to TikTok to ask the site's moderators why they removed some of her swimsuit videos.

In a caption to a video posted on her official TikTok account, wrote: "TikTok keeps taking down my videos of me in my bathing suits. But allows other videos with girls in bathing suits. I wonder why? TikTok…we need to talk. [sic]"

A TikTok spokesperson later told The Guardian that one of their moderators banned her videos due to mistakenly thinking they had been posted for the sake of "sexual gratification," and that the clips have since been reuploaded.
