Madonna has opened up about her recent health crisis caused by a severe bacterial infection that saw her hospitalized last month and landed her in intensive care.
The medical emergency led to her eagerly anticipated world tour, intended to mark her four decades in the music industry, being postponed.
Madonna, affectionately known as the Queen of Pop, has now reassured her legions of followers across social media platforms that she is on the path to recovery.
Expressing her gratitude towards her fans for their support, the 64-year-old singer wrote on Instagram, "Thank you for your positive energy, Prayers and words of healing and encouragement. I have felt your love. I'm on the road to recovery and incredibly grateful for all the blessings in my life."
In her heartfelt message, Madonna revealed that her immediate thoughts upon finding herself in the hospital were of her children, swiftly followed by concern for her fans who were eagerly awaiting her tour.
She admitted, "My second thought was that I did not want to disappoint anyone he bought tickets for my tour," and added, "I also didn't want to let down the people who worked tirelessly with me over the last few months to create my show. I hate to disappoint anyone." Now, she affirmed, her priority is regaining her health and strength, promising, "I'll be back with you as soon as I can."
The Queen of Pop went on to share an update about the postponed Celebration tour, stating the current plan involves rescheduling the North American leg and kicking off in Europe in October. She signed off the post with a heartfelt note, expressing gratitude for the support she received, "I couldn't be more grateful for your care and support. Love, M."
The star's health condition was first disclosed in a statement by her manager, Guy Oseary, at the end of the previous month. He revealed, "On Saturday, June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which led to a several-day stay in the ICU. Her health is improving, however, she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected."
Upon release from the hospital, the pop star was initially confined to her bed in her New York apartment. However, recent sightings of Madonna suggest her health is indeed improving.
