A "jaw-dropping" comment allegedly made by Marc Anthony at Brooklyn Beckham's wedding to Nicola Peltz has been revealed.
On January 19, Brooklyn took to social media to confirm long-standing speculation of a feud with his parents, David and Victoria Beckham.
The 26-year-old’s emotional statement came after months of silence, during which he claimed his parents had disrespected both him and his 31-year-old wife.
The aspiring chef and former photographer's statement highlighted his wedding to Nicola as a key point of tension, particularly his accusations that his mother had “hijacked” the couple’s first dance.
Brooklyn wrote that the dance, which had been planned for weeks, was turned into an uncomfortable moment when Anthony, a family friend and wedding performer, announced that he would be dancing with Victoria instead.
"Marc Anthony, who is a friend of the Beckhams, offered to perform as a gift at the wedding," a source told PEOPLE.
"Before the song began, Marc asked Brooklyn to come to the stage, and then announced, 'The most beautiful woman in the room tonight, come on up… Victoria Beckham!'"
The insider described the moment as "jaw-dropping," with one guest adding: "It left the whole room in absolute shock - you could hear a pin drop."
It was further reported that the moment left Nicola in tears, as she felt the Spice Girl's actions were intentional, knowing it was meant to be a romantic dance for her and her groom.
According to Brooklyn, the moment "felt very inappropriate," and he described it as one of the most "uncomfortable" and "humiliating" experiences of his life.
He further claimed: "We wanted to renew our vows so we could create new memories of our wedding day that bring us joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment."
The Strained Relationship with His Parents
In his lengthy Instagram post, Brooklyn accused his parents of trying to ruin his relationship with his wife.
He spoke candidly about the pressure he faced to sign business deals involving his name rights before the wedding, and said that his "holdout" had affected a potential payday and that his parents had treated him differently ever since.
He also slammed the “performative” nature of the Beckham family’s public life, claiming that their social media posts and family events felt "inauthentic".
Despite the public rift, Victoria has remained largely silent until recently, breaking her silence with a social media post celebrating the 50th birthday of her fellow Spice Girl, Emma Bunton.
In the post, Victoria shared a throwback photo with Emma, writing: "Happy birthday @emmaleebunton. I love you so much!!" followed by a second post featuring a clip from their 1996 music video for Say You'll Be There, where Emma sings her solo verse.
David Beckham's Response
Hours after Brooklyn's explosive statement, David also addressed the situation, though not directly responding to his son's claims.
During an appearance on CNBC’s Squawk Box, the 50-year-old football legend spoke about the influence of social media on his family.
“I have always spoken about social media and the power of social media... For the good and for the bad,” the soccer icon said, noting that it could be a dangerous tool for children.
He emphasized that he tries to teach his kids the importance of learning from their mistakes, adding, “Children are allowed to make mistakes. That is how they learn. That is what I try to teach my kids."
