New footage has emerged showing the moment Coldplay frontman Chris Martin reacted to Astronomer CEO Andy Byron appearing to embrace a colleague during the band's concert kiss cam.

Byron and the company's head of HR, Kristin Cabot, were spotted on camera at the concert in Foxboro, Massachusetts, on Wednesday (July 16).

The footage has spread across the internet due to the reactions of the pair, who appeared to desperately try to get out of the shot as quickly as they could - Bryon ducking behind a barrier and Cabot turning away with her head in her hands.

While the moment was apparently mortifying for them, Chris Martin seemed to find the humor in it, albeit quite awkwardly.

New footage shows the singer attempting to deal with the moment on stage, and in fairness, he handled it very well.

As the Astronomer employees ducked out of shot, Martin seemed confused, saying: "Oh, what? Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy."

The singer continued: "I'm not quite sure what to do. Could we rock with you?"

The crowd then cheered as Martin awkwardly laughed and let out an "oh s***."

He went on: "I hope we didn't do something bad."

Despite the awkward moment, the kisscam continued on and went to a new couple, with Martin taking a more tentative approach.

"Now listen," he said. "Are you two a couple? Are you two a legitimate couple?"

Much to the relief of everyone, they did seem to be, and the show was able to carry on as intended.

While those at the concert, and now millions of people online, have had a good laugh at the situation, Astronomer has had to take it far more seriously.

The company released a statement on LinkedIn: “We are committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding.

"Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability. The Board of Directors has initiated a formal investigation into this matter and we will have additional details to share very shortly.”

The company also noted that neither Andy nor Kristin has publicly commented on the incident - despite a widely-circulated statement, which has been confirmed as fake.

CEO Andy Byron has been placed on leave, and co-founder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy is stepping in as interim CEO.

However, the company was quick to note that rumours of another Astromoner employee, Alyssa Stoddard, being in the video were untrue.

"Stoddard wasn’t at the concert, reaffirming that no other employees were featured with the pair on the jumbotron," a spokesperson said via News.com.au.

The footage was originally shared by Grace Springer, who had no idea the social media storm she was about to create.

Speaking to the U.S. Sun, she said: "I had no idea who the couple was. Just thought I caught an interesting reaction to the kiss cam and decided to post it.”

While she confessed feeling remorse, she also noted: “A part of me feels bad for turning these people’s lives upside down, but, play stupid games… win stupid prizes. I hope their partners can heal… I hope, for them, my video was a blessing in disguise.”
