Actress Olivia Wilde has revealed what it's really like for her family to watch her intimate scenes.
The 42-year-old has starred in over 40 feature and short films in her career, ranging across several different genres.
But in a June 2026 episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, the American filmmaker spoke about what it was like to speak with her parents about the more uncomfortable scenes throughout her career.
Wilde has not been afraid of getting it on in front of a film crew, despite recently admitting that younger audiences nowadays want to see less sex in media as they "don’t want to see inauthenticity anymore."
While this may be the case now, the mom-of-two spoke about how she wasn't afraid to bare all for the good of the plots of her past titles.
But while many actors would avoid speaking about sex scenes with loved ones, it seems she has no problem with it.
Wilde was the guest on Alex Cooper's Call Her Daddy podcast on June 17, 2026, where she spoke about a range of topics.
The conversation veered towards sex scenes, and she spoke about how her family dealt with that aspect, revealing: "My dad has had to sit through so many movies where I was completely naked doing sex scenes.
“He’d just say, ‘Wonderful work, darling,'" she explained.
Wilde added: "In one movie, he had to hear me talking about DP and pegging, and I was thinking, ‘How is he going to react?’
"They loved it," she surprisingly admitted.
The Rush actress added: "I realized how lucky I was to have parents with a great sense of humor,
"They were just laughers."
Host Alex Cooper then chimed in, saying: “The lack of shame in a household changes everything.
“It makes you wonder why everyone else is so uncomfortable talking about things that are part of life."
Well, to each their own at the end of the day.
Wilde also appeared on The Louis Theroux podcast in July 2026, where he asked her: "What did you conclude about how much sex is normal?"
The actress, who clearly isn't afraid to tackle any topic, replied: "I think my real conclusion is that no sex is not normal, and that is something that I think a lot of people have mis-... Hmm, sounds very judgemental to say misunderstood."
Theroux brought up her previous comments on Call Her Daddy, asking: "You said something like, you feel like actually if there's no sex in the relationship it’s not a good sign," to which Wilde said: "It's a bad sign, it’s not a good sign. Yeah, it's a roommate. I really think that."
The director then referred to it as "bed death", clarifying that it's different to a sleep divorce, which is when a couple sleeps in separate bedrooms.
She admitted: "I don't know, I think that's kind of sexy. I'm intrigued by that. You could, you could invite her over in a way that allows for maybe there's a little bit of mystery in there. I think that's interesting."
Wilde added: "I really learned a lot about how little sex a lot of people are having, and how they assume that's normal… and particularly after children.
"It makes me sad to think about how people have misunderstood intimacy to be about merging identities, and yet not really maintaining a curiosity about this person that allows for the kind of necessary separation that leads to eroticism."
