Back in 2008, Hollywood powerhouses Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds quietly tied the knot in Vancouver, Canada.

They’d only been engaged four months before walking down the aisle, but the marriage didn’t last long. After just two years, the couple announced their separation and finalized their divorce in 2011.

Since then, both stars have moved on. Reynolds married Gossip Girl star Blake Lively in 2012, while Johansson went on to marry journalist Romain Dauriac in 2014 and later Saturday Night Live comedian Colin Jost in 2020.

Despite their A-list status, the former couple have remained pretty quiet about their whirlwind romance until the Black Widow star, 40, made a rare mention of her ex during a 2023 appearance on The Goop Podcast with Gwyneth Paltrow.

Paltrow, surprised by the memory, said: "Oh, that's right, because I forgot that you were married to Ryan Reynolds!" before adding: "Goals!"

Laughing it off, Johansson replied: “We weren’t married very long, but we were when I first met you, for Iron Man [2] or whatever.”

“We love a good Ryan Reynolds in our house,” Paltrow added, prompting Johansson to offer the rare four-word comment: “He’s a good guy.”

During their split, the former couple had released a joint statement that read: “After long and careful consideration on both our parts, we’ve decided to end our marriage.

"We entered our relationship with love and it’s with love and kindness we leave it. While privacy isn’t expected, it’s certainly appreciated," they added.

Now, Johansson is happily married to SNL star Colin Jost. The couple wed in 2020 and usually keep things private - except for one very public (and seriously graphic) moment.

In December 2024, during SNL's annual "Weekend Update" joke swap, the 42-year-old delivered a wild punchline about Johansson’s postpartum anatomy. Cameras cut to his wife backstage as she blurted out, “Oh my god! Holy s***.”

The Lucy star later called the joke “so vulgar” and “really gross,” in an interview with InStyle admitting that although she’d been warned about a “vagina joke,” she didn’t expect that.
