Dick Van Dyke has updated concerned fans after he was involved in a car crash after "losing control of his vehicle".

The beloved 97-year-old actor was behind the wheel of his 2018 Lexus LS 500 when law enforcement officials were dispatched to the scene in Malibu, California on March 15.

As reported by TMZ, paramedics found the Mary Poppins actor with a bloodied nose and mouth and he received treatment at the side of the road but refused to go to the hospital.

The actor informed law enforcement that he "lost control" of his vehicle due to the rainy weather conditions which had caused the road to become slippery. Van Dyke explained that after skidding, he slammed his car into a gate.

Sources told the outlet that neither drugs nor alcohol was involved in the crash but paperwork has reportedly been submitted to the DMV explaining that the actor should retake his driving test.

In a clip shared by TMZ, the legendary actor has updated fans on his condition after the crash and he appears to be in good spirits.

The 97-year-old was out and about with his 51-year-old wife Arlene Silver when he explained how he was feeling. Pointing to two stitches on his chin, Van Dyke began: "I’m fine — just sore all over."

He assured fans that he is doing "pretty good" and further explained with a smile "the airbags did not deploy, so I just had a face plant right in the steering wheel and it just made me a little dumber."

Naturally, there was great concern shown by his fans, but the actor rather bluntly assured everyone: "I’m 97 — all my friends are dead."

Despite heading towards 100 years old, Van Dyke is showing no signs of slowing down just yet as he continues to wow audiences as one of the most iconic showmen to have ever lived.

So much so that he even took part in The Masked Singer where he brought Nicole Scherzinger to tears after being unmasked and performing 'When You’re Smiling' by Frank Sinatra.

"I love you so much, we love you, the whole world loves you so much. It’s an honor to have you on our show," Scherzinger said. "I can’t believe you’re here, I’m trying to play it cool. You look so gorgeous, you look so handsome."

Talking about his time on the show, Van Dyke told Entertainment Weekly: "I was so positive that nobody would ever guess it was me, that they would have somebody 97 years old on there."

Check out the amazing moment below:

Van Dyke continued: "I would say it’s the weirdest thing I’ve ever done. But they didn’t put a mask on me. They made a great big Pumpkinhead thing that I had to do.

"It was a weird experience. I had two little peepholes I can see the audience with. It’s a good thing I’m not claustrophobic."

It's great to see the star still in good spirits after the crash, and we are glad that his injuries weren't too serious!
