The amount that Angus T. Jones was making for each episode of Two and a Half Men was mind-boggling for a kid his age, but then he simply walked away from acting altogether.
The show, one of the biggest in the world at the time, was as controversial as it was beloved.
All the while, the two and a half stars - Jones, Charlie Sheen, and Jon Cryer, were raking it in.
Angus T. Jones was probably the best paid kid in TV
Angus T. Jones was supposed to be living out every kid’s dream - he was a massive TV star in one of the world’s biggest shows, earning enough money to never have to work again in his life.
But, as so often turns out to be the case, these things aren’t everything they are cracked up to be.
One thing is for sure though, the money was there.
Despite being just a child, Jones was pulling in hundreds of thousands of dollars per episode, and - due to the popularity of the show - there were a lot of episodes.
Angus left the show in 2013, but returned for the finale, and won a bunch of awards along the way.
To add to that, his bank balance was looking healthy during his time on the show.
Reportedly, he was taking home around $300,000 per episode.
Of course, Charlie Sheen - who is currently on a tour telling some of his own wild stories - was earning bank too, as was Jon Cryer, but that’s still a remarkable amount for a kid.
As of last year, Angus had a reported net worth of around $20 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.
Take that with a pinch of salt, but know that he earned a lot during his Two and a Half Men days.
Angus turned his back on fame for a number of reasons
Despite his early success, Angus left acting altogether and studied at the University of Colorado.
He has also since spoken out about the show, calling himself a ‘hypocrite’ for sticking around on a show that mocked real-life problems.
Talking to radio station KHOU, he said: “It was making light of topics in our world that are really problems for a lot of people.
"I was a paid hypocrite because I wasn’t OK with it, but I was still doing it."
After leaving the show, Jones joined the Seventh Day Adventist Church, and has taken his religion very seriously since.
He actually referred to the series as ‘filth’ in one online video, though he later walked it back.
“Without qualification, I am grateful to and have the highest regard and respect for all of the wonderful people on Two and Half Men with whom I have worked and over the past ten years who have become an extension of my family,” he said.
