A Netflix film has been hailed as one of the scariest horror films ever made and has sparked viral claims that only one out of every 100 viewers can make it to the end.
So, do you think you have the minerals for it?
This Netflix film has some people turning off midway through
Netflix is full of wonderful and controversial stuff, from real and unsimulated sex scenes in some films to shows that have people recoiling in horror, there really is something for everyone.
Especially if you like stuff that pushes the envelope.
However, one Spanish-language film has people shocked, with Netflix itself reportedly claiming that very few people managed to make it to the end.
It’s called Verónica and it came out in 2017, but people are still discovering it to this day and are horrified by the film’s dark subject matter.
It’s a supernatural film directed by Paco Plaza and starring Sandra Escacena in the title role.
As with many films such as this, it is based - quite loosely - on a true story.
That true story starts in Vallecas - an inner-city area of Madrid - back in 1991 when a woman died in mysterious circumstances following a seance involving a Ouija board.
You can see where this is going, can’t you?
In the film, the title character, 15-year-old Verónica, wants to contact her dead father, so breaks out the Ouija board to attempt to speak with him.
It doesn’t go to plan, and they end up breaking out… something else.
Verónica has a reputation as one of the scariest horror films on Netflix
When it was released, some reviewers claimed it was among the scariest films they had ever seen, and it was moderately successful at the box office.
Viewers were frightened half to death, though.
One person posted: “Ok, I'm watching #Veronica on my own.
“I’ve nearly had to turn it off twice... I'm only halfway through.”
Another said: “Ok, I'm watching #Veronica on my own. I've nearly had to turn it off twice... I'm only halfway through.”
There’s even a viral claim that Netflix possessed stats that showed that only one out of every 100 people managed to make it through the film.
The streaming giant never actually confirmed that - after all, they want people to watch it - but from the reaction online, it’s fair to say that a few people were scared away.
So, are you brave enough to give it a go?
Verónica is available to watch on Netflix now.
