The original cast of The Goonies are due to reunite tonight thanks to Frozen actor, Josh Gad, who will be hosting the event.
The 1985 cult classic film follows a group of kids who go on an adventure while trying to save their homes from foreclosure. The movie, which was produced by Steven Spielberg, was a runaway success, and helped launch the careers of the likes of Josh Brolin and Sean Astin - both of whom are returning for this evening's reunion.
Gad took to YouTube to announce the news, joining Astin as he recited his character Mikey's famous "Troy's bucket" monologue from the movie. The reunion is set to take place today, on the 27th of April at 9am PT and 12 pm ET (5pm UK time). Kerri Green, who portrayed Andy, Corey Feldman (Mouth), Ke Huq Quan (Data), Martha Plimpton (Stef), and Jeff Cohen (Chunk), are also due to make appearances.

Rumors have been swirling over the past few years over the possibility of a sequel to the 1985 flick, with Astin saying back in 2015 that a follow-up is inevitable, per NME.
"I have said and will always say, that it’s not a question of if, but rather of when the sequel gets made,” Astin said. “The precise make up of it, I have no idea. Whether I will be in it, no idea. Whether they would even want the original cast in it, no idea," he said, adding "Goonies is pret-a-porter for a sequel, man. It is ready to wear. I thought it would be a great animated series, then you could do all kinds of stuff, unencumbered from budget issues and that stuff. But people want it. People want to see it."

According to Deadline, a Fox drama about a group of undergraduates remaking The Goonies was given a pilot order earlier in 2020 from The Bold Type creator Sarah Watson. The original director, Richard Donner, is reportedly involved.

There's no doubt that the smash success of Stranger Things on Netflix has reminded everyone of classic eighties movie, namely Richard Donner's 1985 film The Goonies. Yes, all those scenes of kids on bikes having adventures in small-town America really reminded us all about what was great about this story, and the appearance of Sean Astin in season two of Stranger Things made us crave a sequel more than ever.
However, fans don't have to just wish for it any more. Apparently, the cast members themselves are on board, and one famous person has even stated that he believes that we will get a Goonies Two one day in the future.
Check out the trailer for the original 1985 movie below:

During a Q&A at the FAN EXPO Canada, stars Sean Astin, Corey Feldman and Ke Huy Quan were asked if the rumours of a sequel were true. Astin stated that he believed that it would happen someday while Quan added that it was the question he'd been asked the most in more than 30 years.
This seems to corroborate other statements made in the past. For instance, in an April 2019 interview with Collider, Sean Astin stated: "I think we've probably passed the threshold for which all of us original cast members are right for doing a sequel."
He added: "The audience is so powerful and so devoted to it that I'm absolutely convinced that it will at the very least will be rebooted, which I would be fine with. If it's not as good as the original Goonies, then okay, who cares, at least it's out there."
Meanwhile, in an interview with Us Magazine, Corey Feldman stated: "Sean Astin and I actually wrote a pitch, a treatment of about 10 pages that we took into [director] Richard Donner and a representative of [screenwriter] Chris Columbus and Steven [Spielberg]. We pitched it and Donner loved it, but he said it was too expensive an idea."

The original Ghostbusters cast is returning for the new movie, Dan Ackroyd has confirmed.
The exciting revelation was made on The Greg Hill Show, where the actor was discussing the upcoming movie, currently titled Ghostbusters 2020. He said that he, Bill Murray, Sigourney Weaver, and Annie Potts would all be returning, and not only this, they've already filmed their parts.
This is the teaser trailer for Ghostbusters 3:
|https://content.jwplatform.com/videos/0CMweVUt-Q0L14jDU.mp4||0CMweVUt
He said: "Jason Reitman wrote a beautiful, heartfelt script that takes the real DNA from the first two movies and transfers that directly to the third, the next generation.
"It hands the legacy off to a new generation of stars, and players, and actors, and characters.
"And we've shot our part - [Bill] Murray, Sigourney [Weaver], and Annie Potts - and it was really exciting working on this new idea, this new take on this story."
Not that the movie was ever going to be a hard sell, the actor helped make it sound even more enticing. Ackroyd continued: "I have really good feelings about his, just because of the quality of the stars we've got there.
"We've got some really terrific young actors, a great story, a great setting.
"It's gonna be scary, really thought-provoking, it's gonna be very heartfelt."
However, the movie will not be without its share of new acting talent too. Younger stars whose roles have also been confirmed include Mckenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, and Logan Kim.
Carrie Coon, Ernie Hudson, and Paul Rudd have also confirmed their involvement, meaning that this is a movie with a seriously big-name cast.
Its script was briefly discussed by director Jason Reitman at the Ghostbusters Fan Fest in June. While he didn't give much away, he did stress that it was very much a new movie with "amazing" characters.
"I'm not gonna give anything away today, but I will say it's a new movie. This is a new movie about a new set of characters, it takes place in a new place, a new location," he said.
"And I'm hoping that [the fans] join me on this one, because these characters are amazing. Amazing, and I can't wait to introduce you to them."

The Back To The Future movies are perhaps the most beloved trilogy in Hollywood history.
The first film of the franchise was released back in 1985, and saw teenager Marty McFly accidentally sent back to the year 1955, where he has to stop his mom having the hots for him and try to get her to fall in love with his peeping-tom of a father. It's not as creepy as it sounds, honest.
Back To The Future: Part II saw Marty visit the future with eccentric scientist Doc Brown, as they promised audiences hoverboards by 2015 (that never happened). And in Part III, Marty and Doc found themselves in the Old West, where they proved that Hill Valley had struggled an incredibly small gene pull for over a century.
Yes, the Back To The Future movies are as rewatchable and enjoyable today as they were thirty years ago, which is what makes them so adored by fans old and new.
And now, it's time to go back...

That's right, on Monday, May 11, the cast of the sci-fi adventure trilogy will be reunited for an online special of actor Josh Gad's Reunited Apart YouTube series.
The news was confirmed by Doc Brown actor Christopher Lloyd, who shared a video of the Delorean's iconic time-machine dashboard, with Monday's date punched in.

He captioned the video: "Coming together for a wonderful cause. Stay tuned..."
Gad, 39, also recently shared a screenshot of himself enjoying a Zoom call with leading cast members Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd, with the other caller's faces covered. The Frozen star wrote alongside the image:
"Oops. Accidentally marked up this picture featuring all of the surprise guests we’ve assembled for next Monday’s #BackToTheFuture #ReunitedApart reunion in support of @projecthopeorg . Guess you’re just going to have to tune in Monday, May 11th at 9AM PT/12:00 PM EST to see for yourselves."

The reunion will be available to watch on Josh Gad's YouTube Channel, and has been organized in an attempt to raise money for COVID-19 relief efforts.
Below, Gad talks about the Reunited Apart episode, with a special appearance from actress Lea Thompson, who plays Marty's mom Lorraine Baines McFly in the trilogy.

Addressing the possibility of a fourth sequel, Christopher told Phoenix New Times back in 2018:
"Well, I think its a matter of, first of all, it’s important if Bob Zemeckis and Bob Gale are excited about doing another episode [of Back to the Future], I think, really, the most important thing is if they can come up with the right idea.
"I think that’s the challenge is to come up with something that really is as good as the originals.
"I suppose it could happen. I have not heard that they’re looking for that if they’ve made up their minds […] hey, here’s something we could do, and they believed in it then they might get going to do it."
When asked if he’d be interested in appearing in a fourth movie, Christopher replied: "I’d be delighted.
"I’d love to be in a fourth film, if they could come up with the right idea that extends the story and does it as well as the first three."

These past few weeks, Friends fans have been relentlessly teased at the opportunity of having Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer reunite once again for one more episode of what is arguably the greatest sitcom ever made.
Last month, Jennifer Aniston made her Instagram debut, and her first post was none other than a snap featuring all six of the original cast members just hanging out. She captioned the pic: "And now we’re Instagram FRIENDS too. HI INSTAGRAM ??"
|https://www.instagram.com/p/B3o8vWDhlOh/
And if this wasn't a big enough tease, Courteney Cox posted a picture last week revealing she had been having lunch with her co-star and on-screen husband Matthew Perry.

Could we BE any more excited about a reunion?!
Well, perhaps we won't have to be excited for much longer, as according to The Hollywood Reporter, a Friends reunion is in the works over at HBO Max, and they are looking to get all six of the original cast to feature.
The Reporter adds that as well as the six stars, series creators David Crane and Marta Kauffman are also being sought after to join the unscripted reunion. What this reunion will entail is still unclear, but it could see the cast come together to reminisce about the days on set, provide a personal insight into what happened behind-the-scenes, or simply provide unheard stories from their times on the show.
But The Hollywood Reporter insists that agreements are yet to be signed and that everybody that could potentially be involved in the project is still "in talks".
Is this reunion what Jennifer Aniston alluded to when she told Ellen "anything could happen"?
|https://content.jwplatform.com/videos/D3qNO7gq-sKUnNGKf.mp4||D3qNO7gq
Appearing on the Ellen show, Aniston gave a clear "no" to a reboot of the sitcom. However, the 50-year-old did suggest the cast would be up for doing "something", saying: "Listen, we would love for there to be something, but we don't know what that something is. So we're just trying really, we're working on something."
Despite the excitement around a reunion, show creator Marta Kauffman spoke to Rolling Stone about why a Friends reunion would only leave people disappointed: "There are several reasons [why there won't be a Friends reunion]."
Check out the incredible moment 'Monica' and 'Richard' bumped into each other in a New York restaurant:
|https://content.jwplatform.com/videos/EOCcFRfN-dkXnENEs.mp4||EOCcFRfN
Kauffman continued: "One, the show is about a time in your life when your friends are your family. It's not that time anymore. All we'd be doing is putting those six actors back together, but the heart of the show would be gone.
"Two, I don't know what good it does us. The show is doing just fine, people love it. [A reunion] could only disappoint. 'The One Where Everyone's Disappointed'."
Ouch. That's the reality check I really didn't need this morning.

For many kids growing up the late nineties and early noughties, The Mummy was our generation's Indiana Jones. Starring Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz and John Hannah, it was a remake of the classic Universal horror film but with a swashbuckling pulp fiction twist. Everyone I knew had the VHS, and I must have seen it dozens of times in the past.
Check out the original trailer for The Mummy in the video below:
|https://content.jwplatform.com/videos/Xizrq7i7-Q0L14jDU.mp4||Xizrq7i7
There was an attempt at a reboot starring Tom Cruise in 2017, which was meant to kickstart the so-called Dark Universe - a series of interconnected movies starring well-known characters from horror cinema. The movie's box office failure effectively aborted that franchise, but plenty of people still want to a sequel to the 1999 Mummy film.
So if you're one of those people, then I have good news for you. It seems as though Brendan Fraser, who played dashing and daring adventurer, Rick O’Connell, is up for returning if a sequel ever gets made.
|https://www.instagram.com/p/BV6fN3Rh2p8/
Appearing at FAN EXPO in Canada this week, Fraser claimed that he’d be "all in" to come back and that he would "absolutely" be willing to make some kind of cameo if a fourth movie ever gets green-lit one day.
According to Comicbook.com, Fraser stated: "Just gotta say, I know how hard it is to make that movie. I tried to do it three times, and the essential ingredient is fun. You gotta remember to have fun. So if there’s a fun way to approach it again, I’m all in."
Find out why Brendan Fraser hasn't appeared in as many movies these days:
|https://content.jwplatform.com/videos/mqrU5vKY-Q0L14jDU.mp4||mqrU5vKY
He added that he was hopeful that Rachel Weisz would reprise the role of badass librarian, Evelyn Carnahan, stating: "Working with Rachel, it’s Rachel f*cking Weisz. She’s wonderful, you know if you’re really impressed with talent and good humour."
He added: "She’s lovely. And believe everything. She got stuck with all the exposition in that show. Which is good, that means all the talking. I was just the guy like, 'Hurry up, let’s go, come on! That thing is gonna go bang!' It worked out."
|https://twitter.com/CBR/status/1168184309985009664?s=20
However, that's not to say that Fraser has been resting on his laurels. Far from it! He's recently taken on the role of Cliff Steele (aka Robotman) in the TV adaptation of the surreal and postmodern Grant Morrison comic book, Doom Patrol. Still, I'm hopeful that he could play his most iconic character one last time.
