A source close to Jada Pinkett Smith has claimed that Chris Rock is "obsessed" with her after the comedian blasted her and Will Smith at his live Netflix comedy special.
We all remember where we were when we watched the 94th Academy Awards last year and saw the 54-year-old actor get up on stage and slap the 58-year-old comedian after he made a joke about his wife.
Referring to the 51-year-old actress's shaved head, the comedian said: "Jada, I love ya. G.I. Jane 2, can't wait to see it," which obviously set the Men in Black star off as Jada appeared very unimpressed.
Right after Smith smacked him, the stand-up comic said: "Oh, wow. Wow. Will Smith just smacked the s*** out of me," while the actor shouted from his seat: "Keep my wife’s name out your f****** mouth."
The notorious slap resulted in a huge media storm - which was only intensified after Smith went on to win the Academy Award for Best Actor at the end of the night for his role in King Richard.
Since the controversial moment, both stars have spoken about it with Rock describing Smith as the "softest" person "that ever rapped" during an event with Dave Chappelle. He also reportedly claimed that he is not a "victim" - but that the actor's attack still "hurt" him.
On the other hand, the I Am Legend actor expressed his regret in an apology statement, resigned from the Academy, and was later banned from attending all Academy events for 10 years.
One year later, the comic addressed the assault once again in a candid show titled Chris Rock: Selective Outrage and shared some scathing digs about the couple and their marriage.
Watch him address the incident below (Warning - contains strong language and sexual themes):Rock claimed that the Red Table Talk host deserved to be made fun of, accusing her of starting things, and adding: "I did some jokes about her. Who gives a f*** That's how it is: She starts it, I finish it," according to People.
"That's what the f*** happened. Nobody's pickin' on this b****. She started this s***. Nobody was picking on her," he reportedly said, per the outlet.
According to People, an insider close to The Nutty Professor actress has now responded to Rock's comments about her and said that she "had no part in all of this other than being heckled" and that the comedian is "obsessed" with her.
The source went on to say that the feud has been going on for "almost 30 years" and used the fact that the Grown Ups actor filmed his Netflix special in her hometown of Baltimore as an example.
The insider continued that back in 2016, Jada showed her support for Black actors as part of the "#OscarsSoWhite" movement after actors was was shut out of the big categories. Her husband was also not nominated for Best Actor that year for his performance in Concussion.
And then during his stand-up show, Rock jested: "Years ago, his wife said I should quit the Oscars. I shouldn't host 'cause her man didn't get nominated for Concussion. And then he gives me a f***ing concussion."
However, the source disputed: "She never asked Chris to not host the Oscars ever. She publicly said in a Facebook post at the time Chris would be a great Oscars host and is perfect for the job."
Ever since the airing of Rock's new comedy special, many viewers echoed the sentiment that Rock was "obsessed" with Jada, and took to Twitter to share their opinions.
"Chris Rock is obsessed with Jada and she literally was just there while he joked about her hair loss. She just didn’t enjoy the joke," one Twitter user wrote. "Like….. why does she deserve to be attacked??"
A second added: "So it seems that Chris Rock is still obsessed with Jada. She didn't walk on stage and slap him, Will did. But he went on and on about 'Jada's entanglement' with a younger man. I guess nobody else in Hollywood is having affairs with younger people."
And a third wrote: "Chris Rock definitely deserved the slap and more. He's obviously obsessed with Jada. Get a life loser."
Regardless of the Madagascar star's alleged targeting of Jada, the insider revealed that she is focused on her untitled memoir coming out this year.
