The name of Rihanna and A$AP Rocky's baby boy has finally been revealed.
Last May, the 'Umbrella' singer, 35, and her rapper-boyfriend, 34, welcomed their first child together, a precious baby boy.
The couple kept their son out of the spotlight until late last year. They allowed people to have a glimpse of their parenthood by sharing pictures of him on social media and letting paparazzi take snaps.
Despite posting numerous pictures of the infant, they didn't reveal his name, until now. As reported by Daily Mail - who obtained the child's birth certificate - the baby's name is RZA Athelston Mayers.
The outlet noted that RZA is a homage to the leader of the Wu-Tang Clan, while Athelston is the same middle name as his dad and Mayers is the rapper's last name as well.
Rocky shares his own first name, Rakim, with the 90s rapper and producer Rakim, per Vulture.
The first Rakim - who has released albums like Paid in Full and Follow the Leader - revealed during a Hot 97 interview that he met the 'Praise The Lord' musician when he was a baby.
"I remember a long time ago, driving through Harlem. A lady walks across the street. I’m at the light, she walks across the street. She got the carriage and everything," Rakim told interviewers.
"She says can 'you sign this for me?' I never say no. I say 'What’s his name?' Rakim. I’m like word?" he continued. "She’s like Rakim. I sign the joint, I remember that day, cause that was the first time hearing someone named their son after me. Like I said, humbling experience."
As previously mentioned, the celebrity couple didn't share any details or pictures of RZA until last December when the 'Diamonds' singer took to TikTok to share an adorable first look of him at six months.
In addition to this, Rihanna allowed the entertainment website Hollywood Unlocked to exclusively obtain and publish three photos of her baby boy.
In one of the pictures shared on Instagram, he is wearing a white onesie and has a pacifier. In another, his father is holding him up to the camera.
During her March 2023 interview with British Vogue, the Fenty Beauty founder detailed how she fiercely protected her son after a paparazzi took a picture of him before she introduced him to the world.
"I just went straight into protective mode. Like there wasn’t even time for rage," she said. "As parents it just feels so icky, like a violation."
"It’s the thing you never want to happen," the singer said, as she reflected on the chance of people seeing pictures of him without her permission. "We get to decide as parents when and how we do that. End of story," she added.
The 'Stay' musician also revealed that she is pregnant with her and Rocky’s second child during her Super Bowl performance this year.
During the performance, she donned a bright red jumpsuit with a red bodysuit underneath that showed her growing bump. After she was spotted cradling and caressing her tummy during her performance, her rep confirmed the pregnancy.
