With the help of a new diet and exercise regime, as well as a professional personal trainer, Rebel has now managed to achieve her goal weight of 75 kilograms (165lbs) after shedding a whopping 28 kilograms (61lbs).
In a post made to her 9.3 million Instagram followers, Rebel shared an image of her scales, which she captioned:
"Hit my goal with one month to spare! Even though it’s not about a weight number, it’s about being healthy, I needed a tangible measurement to have as a goal and that was 75 [kilograms].
"I wanna go live on Insta on Tuesday when I'm back in the US to share stuff with you guys and thank everyone for their support."
Now, per News.com.au, Wilson has sat down in a candid hour-long Instagram Live video to discuss her progress over the past year and opened up about a near-death experience.
In it, Wilson stated: "I can only talk about my own personal experience/journey but am hoping to help those who have had similar struggles to me... I’ve probably been overweight probably since I was about 20.
"This year I turn 40, so probably 20 years."

She continued:
"I was at my skinniest when I had malaria when I almost died, when I came out of hospital everyone was like ‘Wow what did you do?’ I almost died...
"But I probably haven’t been the weight I am now since like high school, which has been interesting, but for 20 years I have been a bigger person."

Rebel also spoke about how her weight loss was also motivated by her wanting to one day have children, adding:
"I wasn’t valuing myself, and telling myself negative things. That was hard. I’m trying to change those patterns, so you’re more loving and treating yourself with respect...
"I was thinking about fertility and having good quality eggs in the bank, so I was like: okay I’m going to do this. I’m going to get healthy."

In a previous interview with E! News, Wilson revealed that she had previously been diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome - a hormonal condition that can cause rapid weight gain in certain cases.
Rebel stated: "I've been overweight for about 20 years. I started gaining weight when I was about 20. I had something called PCOS—polycystic ovarian syndrome - and I gained weight rapidly.
"It's just a hormone imbalance and you gain a lot of weight usually and that's how it manifested in me. Sometimes, I feel sad, but then at the same time, I worked my body to my advantage."

According to the NHS, polycystic ovarian syndrome is characterized by irregular periods caused by infrequent ovulation, the production of excess androgen (which can cause excess facial or body hair), and the enlargement of the ovaries.
The condition is one of the main causes of female infertility and can lead to a range of other health issues, such as type 2 diabetes, depression, sleep apnea, and high blood pressure.
