Britney Spears' new husband Sam Asghari has released a statement following multiple reports that claim the singer's family staged an intervention.

News of an intervention comes amid concerns over the 41-year-old Grammy winner's online behavior in recent weeks, including deleting her Instagram account temporarily.

The mother-of-two quashed gossip that she was mentally unstable, hitting out at the fans who called emergency services to request a welfare check following the deactivation of her account.

Spears' husband has constantly defended her, with the 28-year-old actor recently making a statement to Access Hollywood about a rumored intervention: "An intervention did not occur. My wife is in full control of her life and will continue to make all decisions involving her care regardless of circumstances. Speculation on her health is inappropriate and should end immediately."

During the past few months, multiple media outlets have reported on Spears' behavior, with TMZ continuously labeling it "erratic". Footage emerged in January of the 'Toxic' singer being berated by fans who were filming her at a restaurant, forcing Spears to eventually admit that she'd felt uncomfortable and had wanted to go home following the unwanted attention.

November last year marked 12 months since Spears was released from her 13-year conservatorship, which meant that her whole life was no longer effectively controlled by her father Jamie Spears. Throughout that time, Jamie had controlled his daughter's finances, career, and personal life, even banning her from driving, getting married, and drinking coffee.

Several months before the conservatorship was terminated, Spears made an emotional plea in court, finally having the chance to explain in great detail the suffering she had experienced by those closest to her. "I would like to progressively move forward and I want to have the real deal, I want to be able to get married and have a baby [...] I have a [IUD] inside of myself right now so I don't get pregnant," she stated per Variety.

"I wanted to take the [IUD] out so I could start trying to have another baby. But this so-called team won't let me go to the doctor to take it out because they don't want me to have children - any more children [...] I deserve to have a life. I've worked my whole life. I deserve to have a two to three year break and just, you know, do what I want to do," she continued. "[...] I'm tired of feeling alone. I deserve to have the same rights as anybody does, by having a child, a family, any of those things, and more so."
