Shia LaBeouf has opened up about the shocking accusations against him in a recent podcast.

Speaking on Real Ones with Jon Bernthal, the actor admitted that he "hurt" his ex-girlfriend, FKA Twigs, and called her a "saint" who saved his life.

"I hurt that woman," the actor said. "And in the process of doing that, I hurt many other people, and many other people before that woman."

"I was a pleasure-seeking, selfish, self-centered, dishonest, inconsiderate, fearful human being," he continued, before adding: "I f***ed up bad. Like crash and burn type s***. I hurt a lot of people, and I'm fully aware of that. And I'm going to owe for the rest of my life."

LaBeouf and singer, FKA Twigs, were in a year-long relationship from 2018 to 2019 after meeting on the set of the movie, Honey Boy. In 2020, FKA Twigs sued her former partner for sexual battery, assault, and inflicting emotional distress.

In the lawsuit, which is set for trial in 2023, FKA Twigs says: "Shia LaBeouf hurts women [...] He uses them. He abuses them, both physically and mentally. He is dangerous."

The singer, who was previously engaged to Robert Pattinson, accused LaBeouf of waking her up on a Valentine's Day trip and choking her, saying: "If you don't stop you are going to lose me," per Variety.

Further claims detail how LaBeouf began method-acting for his role as a gangster in the film Tax Collector, taking his character so seriously that he allegedly drove around Los Angeles and shot stray dogs dead in an effort to get into the "mindset" of a killer. This profoundly disturbed his former girlfriend.

FKA Twigs, whose real name is Tahliah Barnett, also claimed that her former partner insisted that she sleep naked and counted the number of kisses she gave him per day, berating her if they weren't enough, Variety detailed.

After attempting to resolve the matter in private, an attorney acting on behalf of FKA Twigs told Variety: "Since he was unwilling to agree to get appropriate help, Ms. Barnett filed this suit to prevent others from unknowingly suffering similar abuse by him."

At the time LaBeouf, who denied many of the allegations, stated to the New York Times: "I'm not in any position to tell anyone how my behavior made them feel. I have no excuses for my alcoholism or aggression, only rationalizations.

"I have been abusive to myself and everyone around me for years. I have a history of hurting the people closest to me. I'm ashamed of that history and am sorry to those I hurt. There is nothing else I can really say."

It seems now, however, LaBeouf has come to terms with his past. The 36-year-old, who has recently rediscovered his Catholic faith, said that FKA Twigs was a "saint" in Bernthal's podcast. Despite not explicitly naming her, LaBeouf stated: "Had she not intervened in my life and not created the avenue for me to experience ego death, I'd either have a really mediocre existence or I'd be dead in full."
