He's one of the biggest names in Hollywood with over 90 movies under his belt - but it turns out that Tom Hanks isn't as impressed by his own career as everybody else is.

In a recent interview with People, the Hollywood veteran revealed that he only reckons he's made four movies that would qualify as "pretty good".

The Forrest Gump star made the humble admission while chatting about his first novel, The Making of Another Major Motion Picture Masterpiece.

While talking through his experiences of writing the book, Hanks said: "No one knows how a movie is made — though everyone thinks they do."

The star didn't specify which four movies he thought were "pretty good" - though, with over 90 acting credits and over 50 producer credits to his name, it's hard to see how he could have narrowed it down so much.

While Hanks may be critical of his own work, it's fair to say that neither critics nor movie-goers have ever felt the same way.

Countless of his films have been both smash hits at the box office and well rewarded during awards season, with iconic movies like Saving Private Ryan, Toy Story, Cast Away, and The Green Mile just a few of the projects he can lay claim to.

According to IMDB, Forrest Gump is the top-rated movie Hanks has ever appeared in. The 1994 historical drama - in which Hanks plays the slow-witted but sweet Forrest - won six Oscars, including in the coveted Best Movie, Best Actor, and Best Director categories.

But let's just take a moment to show some appreciation for Big, The Terminal, Philidelphia, Captain Phillips, The Polar Express, Saving Mr. Banks - the list goes on and on...
