Ever since their steamy romantic classic Titanic captured the imaginations of audiences across the globe, rumours of Kate Winslet's relationship with Leonardo DiCaprio have never been far from the tabloids.
Seemingly unable to distinguish reality from fiction, fans have lapped up gossip column inches on the pair on and off for years, despite their insistence on numerous occasions that they are friends, and nothing more.
Having both appeared in the monumental success that was the Titanic movie fairly early into their now hugely successful respective Hollywood careers, it was, perhaps, inevitable that DiCaprio and Winslet would remain close, having both been thrust into the spotlight simultaneously.
That the pair have gone on to appear together numerous times in other films - often romantically involved - like the tempestuous Revolutionary Road has only served to stoke the fire amongst hopeful fans that they might one day become more than just friends.
Now, Kate Winslet herself has revealed all on the pair's "very, very close" relationship, after photos of her and DiCaprio apparently on vacation together whipped fans into something of a frenzy.
Winslet spoke about her relationship with Leonardo DiCaprio during an interview with Glamour magazine, making the hilarious admission that the pair occasionally "quote the odd Titanic line back and forth to each other", something I think anyone who has ever seen the movie can relate to.
She continued;
"You don't even want to know the last conversation we had, because it was so funny and made me laugh so much. We found ourselves saying to each other, 'Can you imagine if the world really knew the stupid things we say?'"I'm not going to tell you what we actually talk about, but yeah, we're very, very close and sometimes we quote the odd Titanic line back and forth to each other, because only we can, and we find it really funny."
In the interview, Winslet also admitted that, if her acting career had not worked out as spectacularly well as it has done, she isn't sure exactly what she'd be doing now. On her lack of a back up plan, she said;
"I should have had one, because if it had all gone t**s up, I would have been stuck. I had a fleeting idea about becoming a hairdresser, but I cut off a friend’s earlobe trying to cut their hair.
"I saw him again not too long ago and I was like, "I’m so sorry for your earlobe." He said, "Yeah, you can still see the marks, but I’m proud of that now, Kate!"
Back in 2014, Kate Winslet told Marie Claire that the reason the pair's friendship had been so strong and enduring was exactly because there was no romantic interest between them;
"I think the reason that friendship works is because there was never any romantic thing.
"It's so disappointing for people to hear that, because in the soap opera of the Kate and Leo story we fell in love at first sight and had a million snogs, but actually we never did. He always saw me as one of the boys; I've never really been a girly-girl."
A timely reminder that fiction and reality are entirely separate, and a salute to one of Hollywood's best friendships.
Kate Winslet has opened up about her struggles with body confidence.
The Oscar-winning actress revealed how a stray comment from her longtime friend Leonardo DiCaprio changed the way she thought about her body forever.
Winslet and DiCaprio have been friends ever since their days playing on-screen lovers Jack and Rose in Titanic. While the pair have never been romantically involved in real life, they've always looked out for each other.
When talking about her time filming Titanic with DiCaprio, Winslet revealed to Oprah Winfrey how a comment he made about her body stayed with her forever.
"I remember Leo when we were doing Titanic saying to me, 'it's really important that you are the shape that you are,'" the star recalled.
"I was like, 'what do you mean by that?' He said, 'because there are so many skinny girls out there who think that to be successful and to be beautiful and therefore to be loved and respected it means you have to be thin,'" she added.
The Mare of Eastown star went on to say how DiCaprio's words resonated with her, saying: "This really struck a chord with me and I thought, 'God, he's really right. In some way, this image is being translated to teenage girls.'"
When the Oscars rolled around and Winslet's performance generated considerable buzz, the actress remembered her friend's words and realized that she had every reason to be confident in her own body.
"I thought, 'I'm young, I'm 21-years-old and I'm in this movie and it's very successful and I've been nominated for an academy award for this and I haven't don any of this through being skinny or through starving myself'. So I thought, 'I'm just going to hold my head high and be the person that I am,'" the actress told Oprah proudly.

Winslet has spoken often about the body shaming and abuse she experienced throughout her youth.
In an interview with The Guardian, she recalled that "it was almost laughable how shocking, how critical, how straight-up cruel tabloid journalists were to me."
"They would comment on my size, they’d estimate what I weighed, they’d print the supposed diet I was on. It was critical and horrible and so upsetting to read," she added.
There's no denying Leonardo DiCaprio is one of the most accomplished actors in Hollywood today. Over the last few decades, the 48-year-old actor has portrayed countless iconic characters.
One of his most beloved characters is (and perhaps always will be) Jack Dawson - a poor artist who meets and falls in love with the wealthy Rose DeWitt Bukater (played by Kate Winslet) aboard the Titanic.
Their fine acting in the 1997 blockbuster catapulted the pair to stardom and their respective careers have only flourished since then.
Earlier this week, the director of the hit film, James Cameron, broke down his most iconic movies in a video for GQ. The video also saw the 68-year-old filmmaker share some gossip about the A-lister, who went on to star in other huge movies such as Catch Me If You Can and Django Unchained.
While the director initially considered Gwyneth Paltrow as the actress for Rose, Winslet gave a "fantastic" audition and the part was instantly hers.
DiCaprio, however, didn't impress Cameron with his supposed bad attitude during the audition process.
"There was a meeting with Leo and then there was a screen test with Leo," Cameron said. "The meeting was funny because I am sitting in my conference room, waiting to meet an actor. And I look around, and all the women in the entire office are in the meeting. They all wanted to meet Leo. It was hysterical."
He said the initial meeting went well and DiCaprio "charmed everybody" and he was asked back so that he could do a read with Winslet. But the budding star wasn't pleased that he was expected to read lines with the lead actress ahead of being cast.
"So he came back a couple of days later, and I had the camera set up to record the video," Cameron recalled. "He didn't know he was going to test. He thought it was another meeting to meet Kate. So I said, 'Okay, we'll just go in the next room, and we'll run some lines and I'll video it.'

"And he said, 'You mean, I'm reading?' I said, 'Yeah.' He said, 'Oh, I don't read.' I shook his hand and said, 'Thanks for coming by.' And he said, 'Wait, wait, wait. If I don't read, I don't get the part? Just like that?'
"And I said, 'Oh, yeah. Come on. This is a giant movie that is going to take two years of my life, and you'll be gone doing five other things while I'm doing post-production. So, I'm not going to f*** it up by making the wrong decision in casting. So, you're going to read, or you're not going to get the part.'"
DiCaprio eventually agreed to read - albeit reluctantly.
"So he comes in, and he's like every ounce of his entire being is just so negative — right up until I said, 'Action.' Then he turned into Jack," the director explained. "Kate just lit up, and they played the scene. Dark clouds had opened up, and a ray of sun came down and lit up Jack. I'm like, 'All right. He's the guy.'"
Kate Winslet has opened up about one of her most iconic Titanic scenes.
James Cameron's 1997 blockbuster about the ill-fated cruise liner was always going to catapult its leading cast to international stars.
Therefore, when the role of Rose DeWitt Bukater came to light, Winslet ensured she did everything in her power to make sure she landed the role.
Speaking to Rolling Stone back in 1998, Winslet went as far as to call Cameron "mad" if he didn't cast her in the role, and even sent him a single rose, along with a card signed "from your Rose".

Of course, Winslet's persistence led to her landing the role. However, despite the movie skyrocketing Winslet to international fame, it also left her with several regrets.
Fans of the movie will undoubtedly remember the iconic scene in which Rose tells artist Jack: "Draw me like one of your French girls" - referring to the Parisian women Jack would sketch in brothels. Then in her first-class cabin - and wearing nothing but the Heart of the Ocean - Jack would draw Rose.
The scene was actually Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio's first scene together - and their nervousness was something that Cameron believed added to the scene. "It wasn't by any kind of design, although I couldn't have designed it better. There's a nervousness and an energy and a hesitance in them," Cameron previously revealed.

Another little-known piece of trivia from the movie is that it was actually Cameron who drew the sketch of Rose. "You know what it means for her, the freedom she must be feeling. It's kind of exhilarating for that reason," he said about the scene.
However, the scene has not had a similar long-lasting impact on Winslet.
In an interview with The Sun back in 2012, she admitted: "I’m not going to look. I’ll be in the bar by that point. I wish I hadn’t shown so much flesh but I was young and I knew I had things to prove."
Three years later, in an interview with Yahoo!, she revealed that she is still "haunted" by the scene thanks to some overzealous fans asking her to sign her autograph on photographs from the revealing scene. (I literally don't know how some people can be so forward.)
"There’s a photo of it as well that someone has lifted from a still of the film, and that photo gets passed around too," she said. "I’m like ’No! I didn’t mean for it to be a photograph that I would end up seeing still 17 years later.'"
"Why do people do this? People ask me to sign that [photo] a lot," she revealed.
Winslet then added: "I don’t sign that [picture]. It feels very uncomfortable. Why would you do that?"

The star also revealed after the movie was released that she would never work with James Cameron ever again -- unless the price was right.
"He has a temper like you wouldn’t believe," she told The Guardian. "You’d have to pay me a lot of money to work with Jim again."
The two would eventually work together again on the 2022 movie Avatar: The Way of Water.

Reports that Leonardo DiCaprio had parted ways with his girlfriend of four years, Camila Morrone, surfaced earlier this week. And it apparently hasn't taken long for a younger woman to take her place.
DiCaprio, 47, is infamous for dating women in their early 20s and then apparently ending things with his other halves before they reach the age of 26.
In fact, it has widely been claimed that The Revenant star has never dated a woman over the age of 25.
When Beregova was interviewed on an Australian radio show on Friday, the rumors were all they could talk about.
Dave Hughes, Ed Kavalee and Erin Molan, hosts of The 2DayFM Morning Crew show, shamelessly grilled the young model about her supposedly romantic ties with the Oscar winner.
Remaining coy, Beregova simply insisted that she "cannot discuss anything regarding [her] personal life."
But the invasive questions didn't end there as the Aussie hosts went on to ask her if she had ever seen the hit 1997 movie Titanic, which would have been released around three years before she was even born.
When the movie began production in the summer of 1996, DiCaprio would have been 21 - just a year younger than his supposed new girlfriend is now.
Laughing, Beregova replied: "Who hasn’t seen this movie?" She added: "If you haven’t seen it, you better go home and put it on and watch that movie."
The hosts then went on to ask her who her favorite actor in the film is. Not taking the bait, she answered: "All the actors". And despite their persistence, the model remained tight-lipped about her links to DiCaprio.
Elsewhere in the interview, Beregova explained that she is studying in London to become a business lawyer and will in the future take over her family pharmaceutical business. The brunette beauty who has more than 50,000 followers on Instagram also shared that she sees her modeling job as a mere hobby as opposed to an actual career.

Leonardo DiCaprio has had a pretty exciting life, both on- and off-screen. During his career, he's been a Wall St. banker, a president, a king, a bear attack survivor, and one of the two most famous star-crossed lovers of all time: Romeo. But the role that most of us remember him for has to be Jack Dawson in Titanic.
It seems like only yesterday that the babyfaced Leo made a name for himself in the romantic historical drama, but, as of 2019, the iconic film will turn 22 years old. And that isn't the only thing in the actor's life that's turning (cue the Taylor Swift song) twenty twooo.
Believe it or not, DiCaprio's current beau, model Camila Morrone, is also going to be celebrating her 22nd birthday this year.
Recent snaps from the model's Instagram show her enjoying herself in Thailand - a trip she went on with DiCaprio, who is 23 years her senior. Though Leo himself wasn't featured in any of the pictures, Morrone documented some of the activities they got up to while on the trip, including a day spent at an elephant sanctuary.
"Today we spent the day at a sanctuary for rescued and rehabilitated elephants (that were privately owned for logging or entertainment purposes)," she wrote. "The sweet Thai men and women that work there spend their days feeding, bathing, and nursing these elephants back to health and happiness (elephants are very emotional and susceptible to trauma). If you ever have the opportunity to visit this sanctuary in Thailand, I highly recommend."
There are actually very few snaps of the two together, but this sweet moment of Morrone adjusting DiCaprio's collar was caught in November last year as the couple enjoyed a football match:

This is not the first time that Leo has dated a model, either. In fact, he seems to have quite a thing for them.
In the past, he's had relationships with Gisele Bündchen, Bar Refaeli, and Toni Garrn. Morrone, however, is the youngest woman he's dated so far.
When he's been asked about the sorts of qualities he looks for in a woman, though, "being employed as a model" doesn't come up. Instead, DiCaprio said he is attracted to "humility, a good sense of humour, and not a lot of drama". And, when asked whether he would ever get married, the actor said: "I mean, the truth is, it's gonna happen when it's gonna happen. And, you know, I'm just gonna let it happen naturally."
So, could this be the one for Leo? The two have only been dating for a matter of months, but their holiday together seemed like a pretty big step to take. Then again, she is only 21 years old - meanwhile, DiCaprio is nearing his mid-forties. But, if their love is anything like Jack and Rose's in Titanic, it seems only fitting that their hearts will go on.
