Pregnancy is meant to be one of the most joyous, exciting and happy experiences of our lives, and naturally, it's something that we want to be well documented. While the thought of "pregnancy photos" makes you think of those black and white, heavily-posed and almost cringe-worthy images that you used to see on the fireplace of your best mate's house (much to their embarrassment), some of them can be much more candid.
A lot of people tend to document
their pregnancy online through a series of images and tweets, but some people prefer to stay quiet and out of the public eye. Actor Kristen Bell was one of these people.

Three years ago, the 37-year-old gave birth to her daughter Delta. In order to mark the occasion, Bell took to Instagram to share a series of never-before-seen, private pictures of her second pregnancy. The photos, which were uploaded onto her Instagram, show the sweet and candid moments from the hours before Delta was born.
Taking to the social media platform to share the images with her 4.7 million followers, Bell captioned it:
"Three years ago today. 47lbs heavier. Getting through painful contractions with backrubs and breathing. Occasionally swinging from the IV pole to try and feel sexy and open up my hips. After 36 hours of labor I met a girl i love more than all the molecules in all the world. Happy birthday, Delta. Love, mom #meshpanties"

The first of the three photos shows Bell, still at home and looking ready to burst, sitting on top of a giant yoga ball and smiling at the camera. In the second image, the actress and her husband Dax Shepard can be seen in a hospital, where Dax is massaging Bell's lower back. The second image is also the photo where the #meshpanties that she mentions in the caption can be seen.
The third photo shows The Good Place star taking pregnancy photos to a new level. Despite the fact that she is literally hours away from giving birth and no doubt feeling incredibly stressed by the whole ordeal, Bell is pictured holding onto the IV pole like it's a dancer's pole while aiming a seductive pout at the camera.
The final photo in the heartwarming post shows Bell holding her newborn daughter. While the mother understandably looks worn out, the smile adorning her face couldn't look anymore genuine.
Despite the fact that she has kept these pictures private for a number of years, Bell is a bit of a superstar when it comes to social media. Her Instagram account is full of insight into the funny, intimate and open relationship that both she and her husband enjoy. The couple have been together for 10 years now and married back in 2013. They have two children together, three-year-old Delta and four-year-old Lincoln.
The photos that Bell shared are both intimate and stunning. Even though they are not flashy and posed, they show what pregnancy actually looks like, including #meshpanties.
