A viral video shows a pizza delivery driver asking for a tip before handing over the customer's food, and the exchange has divided viewers.
For many of us, there are days when cooking is the last thing we want to be doing. So instead, we get on the phone and order our favorite takeout.
As Hollywood star Anna Kendrick once said in a video detailing her shower thoughts: "If I touch my phone in the right places, pizza will show up at my front door."
But one thing that does need to be taken into account is that ordering food can often be a costly endeavor even before factoring in a tip for the delivery driver.
So when a video uploaded to TikTok showed a Domino's delivery driver asking for a tip before handing over the food - the internet had something to say.
Watch the awkward interaction below:
The viral video has been viewed over 5.3 million times and has received over 450,000 likes. It has the caption: "Umm…. The entitlement is killing me," but who is that referring to?
Before the customer has the pizza in her hands, the delivery driver simply states "tip?" and then refers to the car on the driveway, indicating that she could have collected the order herself.
The customer - clearly not interested in engaging in the conversation - states that she has paid for the convenience of getting it delivered.
She then shuts her front door wishing the Domino's employee well but the driver tells her through gritted teeth that she should come and get her own pizza next time.
It's unclear what was on the pizza - but the comment section is where it gets really spicy with viewers sliced down the middle about the interaction.
Some were on the side of the customer, with one person stating: "If someone literally said “tip?” to me before I had the chance to even reach in my pocket and grab it, I simply wouldn’t give it to her anymore," with a second adding: "Who asks for a tip BEFORE giving the pizza though?"
However, others were on the team of the delivery driver: "Lol, you’re cheap!! Lmao! Who doesn’t tip?!?" one person stated, with another added: "I would never not tip someone that brought me my food. Especially in the snow."
What are your thoughts on the interaction? Let us know in the comments!

A customer has divided the internet after their response to a delivery driver went viral.
Now, tipping culture has become one hell of a hot topic online with many claiming that the practice, especially in the United States, has now gotten out of hand.
No matter what your view on the issue is, there's one thing we can all agree on: rudeness is a big no-no.
A video of a delivery driver asking a customer bluntly for a tip has gone viral after it was posted on TikTok.
Have a look at the moment below:You can see the delivery driver, who is clearly in shot, hands over the pizza to a waving hand and says "Tip?" to which the customer replies simply with: "Thank you."
However, that doesn't stop the delivery driver from questioning whether she has a car, insinuating that she could have picked up her own pizza.
"Well, I'm doing it for the convenience [sic]," the customer responds before trying to shut down the conversation telling the driver to "Have a good day."
However, as the door is closing on her, she says: "Yeah, well, come get it next time."
While the original video was removed from the platform, others had already stitched the clip, sharing it with a wider audience who flocked to the comments to discuss the awkward interaction.
One user, who goes by the name @AmyJackson9213, had her own opinion on the matter, saying that she thought the customer was "awfully entitled" for reacting as she did.
"This one makes me mad," she said in the video. "If you are having a pizza delivered to your house and you have someone driving their car [and] using their gas money to bring it to you, like you seem awfully entitled, not them asking for a tip."
She continued: "That's what you do, you give a tip if somebody is literally bringing food to your home. You give them a tip! And for you to say she's entitled - I think you're a little entitled."
"Because that's icky to me," she added. "Because you didn't even give her a penny and she drove all the way to your house to give you pizza... Yikes."
Despite Amy clearly feeling passionate about the issue, her followers did not agree with her.
One user questioned: "Is that not what delivery charge is?"
"You should never ask for a tip that's a huge ick in my book," another added to which Amy replied: "I wonder if there's more to the story cuz most ppl wouldn't instantly ask for a tip like that."
A third was also unimpressed, saying: "Don't they get paid to do their job?"
Amy also replied to that comment, defending the driver: "Their job is making pizzas! If you dont wanna drive to pick up your pizza and want someone to do a service for you, you tip em for their time. And gas."
However, a fourth doubled down, saying: "The person in the video didn't even give them a chance to tip.. she didn't even hand over the pizza before being like tip??"
What's your view on the issue?

A customer who tipped their delivery driver with a slice of pizza has sparked a fierce debate on social media.
The incident was captured on a doorbell camera, with the video later being shared on TikTok by user @ringdoorbell.compilation on July 19. The short clip appears to show the moment a pizza delivery driver was offered a slice of the order, rather than a more conventional cash tip.
Watch the driver get tipped with a slice of pizza below:In the video, the Pizza Hut delivery driver can be seen putting down the box and ringing the door. It's then that he notices a bizarre instruction pinned to the front door.
A caption accompanying the footage revealed that it read: "No money for tip, please take slice of pizza."
Clearly upset, the delivery driver says: "You kidding me?" before taking a slice of pizza from the box and eating it as instructed.
It is unknown when the original footage was recorded, but the delivery driver can be seen wearing a facemask in the video.
And the video did not go unnoticed on TikTok, and at the time of writing, it has been viewed more than 450,000 times.
Reacting to the video, one TikTok user wrote: "He works at a pizza place. He eats it constantly."
A second wrote: "No tip... then don't order."
This was echoed by another TikTok user who wrote: "If you can't afford the tip then you can't afford the food [...] simple."
"You should always tip if they are delivering. You don't have to but [it's] respectful just like tipping at a restaurant," added one user.
Another TikToker added: "I deliver pizzas and I would be pretty annoyed. We eat free already and that's gas I just wasted for nothing."
However, while some thought the tip was unacceptable, this TikTok user saw it in a completely different way.
They wrote: "He's probably at the end of his day and was like honestly best tip lol."
Meanwhile, this TikTok user argued that it should be the pizza company's responsibility to pay their drivers well and the onus shouldn't be on the customer.
They wrote: "It shouldn't be up to customers to pay other people's salary."
Another TikTok user agreed, writing: "[It's] not my responsibility to pay employees. I'm not a business owner these restaurants need to pay their employees better [sic]."
So, do you always tip your delivery drivers? Let us know in the comments.

If you don't tend to tip your food delivery drivers, perhaps this debate that's being had on social media will change your mind.
It all started with a short but powerful video posted to the platform, which shows a Domino's employee's furious reaction to not receiving a tip.
Check out his reaction here:The visibly angry delivery driver, who is known on TikTok only as Malik, shouts "No!" at the start of the clip. It appears that the video was filmed by another employee who tells Malik: "Bro, just calm down!"
Ignoring the remark, Malik continues: "I don’t want to work here anymore! Five minutes! Five minutes out there in the rain, and no tip? No tip?"
He then proceeds to strike stacks of empty pizza boxes sending them flying.
Malik's shocked co-worker responds: "Oh s**t. What the f**k!"
The snubbed Domino's employee captioned the video: "This is why you should tip your drivers."
It has been viewed 1.6 million times, has received over 208,000 likes and more than 18,000 comments at the time of writing.
Malik's irate reaction to not being tipped sparked a real debate in the comments, with many arguing that you should simply make food at home if you cannot tip.
One wrote: "If you can't tip then don't order out. Literally in a pandemic lmao."
Another argued: "Yall don't understand that even 2-3$ helps tremendously. It can make somebody's entire day."
A third shared: "Aw this makes me sad because it was probably repeated deliveries with no tips. He finally hit his breaking point."
However, not everyone agreed that tipping is all that positive, with one arguing: "Honestly tho tipping is a broken system no one should rely on tips, companies start paying ur workers bruh [sic]."
Another said: "Corporations use the tipping system to underpay their workers. Do away with tipping and pay people enough to live."
A third said: "I always tip well however the practice of tipping instead of owners paying a living wage makes no sense. You can pin that extra cost on the food."
However, the pro-tippers argued back, with one saying: "To the people who are complaining about leaving a tip... you simply shouldn't eat out or maybe go pick it up yourself. Drivers rely on tips!!"

Another argument about tips is upon us and this time a DoorDash driver was left outraged after being given a $5 tip for a $20 order of pizza.
TikToker Lacey Purciful (@ladybug3660) caught a heated exchange between herself and her DoorDasher on her home security camera after he finished delivering her pizza.
In the viral footage, the driver - who has only been identified as Corey - can be seen through the doorbell camera approaching her house and the conversation seemed to be going well at first.
He handed the 38-year-old her pizza delivery and then looked at her property before snarkily saying: "I just want to say it’s a nice house for a 5-dollar tip."
Watch the TikTok below:The woman was clearly shocked by the remark as she sarcastically replied, "You're welcome!", but the delivery driver didn't take it well as he fired back, "F**k you," while walking away.
Writing over the video - which has amassed almost 300,000 views - the Texas homeowner penned: "So how much should I be tipping for a $20 pie??"
While the rules around tipping delivery drivers have been well-established in US culture for a long time, it continues to be an ongoing discourse. According to Daily Dot, three to five dollars is considered a good tip since delivery drivers aren't expected to perform the same level of service as a waiter. So, in this case, Lacey tipped the DoorDasher 25% - which is quite generous.
However, some people flooded the comment sections with their thoughts on the matter, stating that the driver had the right to be furious about the $5 tip.
One person wrote: "The f you was much. But he was right," and another user said: "It's true tho wtf is $5 I'll just take the food back."
Meanwhile, others were in complete disbelief that the DoorDash driver was so crude during the encounter. A user stated: "I’d be enrageddddd, people these days think that everyone has money to tip, like babe I also don’t get [paid] millions ughhh."
A second added: "And he still cussed at you after tipping him!? Wow."
In a follow-up video with 1.7 million views, Lacey shared a clip and receipt from a delivery made the same day in which she tipped a more pleasant driver nearly 60 percent on a $17 bill.
"Just to clear the air... I do tip well!! After my interactions with dashers," she wrote in the overlay. She also added in the caption: "This was the same day as the pizza incident. I have worked in the Service Industry for over 10 years!! I do Tip very well. But I also tip on my interaction with the Dasher. This kind man was so sweet & friendly!! Thanks for being kind!!"
After the video went viral on social media, DoorDash issued a statement revealing that Corey has been fired from the delivery company, as reported by Daily Dot.
"Respectfully asking for a tip is acceptable but abusing or harassing someone is never acceptable. We’ve removed this Dasher from our platform and reached out to the customer," they said. "Our rules exist to help ensure everyone who uses our platform - Dashers, customers, merchants - have a safe and enjoyable experience."
"We expect everyone to treat others with respect and we will enforce our rules fairly and consistently," they added.

A Domino's worker has stunned the internet in a viral TikTok after she revealed how much money she makes in one night from tips.
We're all guilty when it comes to ordering takeout from time to time - maybe it's for a special occasion, maybe it's because cooking seems like too much effort, or perhaps it just tastes better than anything that can be whipped up at home.
Being able to tap our phones a few times and have food show up at our front door should probably be considered one of the wonders of the modern world - but do we appreciate the people who make this service possible enough?
A Domino's delivery driver (@allison_green0) has taken to TikTok where she revealed exactly how much she makes in one night just from customers' tips.
The viral video released on December 13 currently stands at over 755,000 views, and Allison has made several follow-up videos tracking her nightly tips.
It began with an order totaling $46.17 to be paid in cash, and the customer handed Allison $50 instructing her to keep the change, meaning she takes a $3.83 tip from the first delivery.
The second order was done via credit card totaling $36.33, but Allison received no tip. "It's okay because that happens," she optimistically said with a smile.
The third delivery is where things started looking up, as the customer handed over a $10 tip for an order of just over $37.
Throughout the evening, Allison delivered 11 orders with the final customer being another who handed over no tip with an order of over $50.
For this shift, Allison received $13 in cash tips and $42.29 in credit card tips across all the orders, which averages out to a tip of $5.03 per delivery.
She dubbed the evening "not terrible for a Monday, but it could be better," while she added that the total does not include her reimbursement for gas.
Viewers seemed to largely support Allison, with one person saying: "You are so positive, even with the [non-tipping] customers. Great attitude, you’ll go far with that. I love it."
A second person added: "2/11 gave no tips? I feel like those customers should be tracked. After 5 no tip orders they get banned," with a third concluding: "I can't believe people don't tip at all."
"My Dominos is 1.3 miles away, and I tip the driver $10. I always worried that wasn't enough, I can't understand people who don't tip at all," another wrote.
However, as always when it comes to the discussion of tipping, there were many viewers who were against the culture and expectations.
"I don’t tip for any delivery driver. I already paid for the delivery, and drivers get paid too," one person replied, with a second adding: "I cannot fathom how an entire country just agreed that it is the customers’ responsibility to make sure the workers make a living wage."
Allison's great attitude did not falter through the evening, and she deserves a huge tip for that alone!
