Drivers have been left shocked after it was revealed that there is a secret button in their rearview mirror that could potentially save their lives.

Driving, for the most part, is a safe way of getting around, but sometimes things can pop up in a journey that make it a bit more hazardous.

Having working mirrors is key to a safe journey as it gives a good idea of your surroundings while on the road, but sometimes, the sun can cause a bit of an issue.

If driving away from the sun, sometimes it can be tricky to look into the mirror as it glares back at you, or if headlights of the car behind are particularly bright.

Even if you're an avid driver, did you know that your car probably has a button on rearview mirror that can save you from being blinded?

A TikToker who goes by the name Coach B shared as video to the platform showing the secret button and it has left people shocked.

As she pushed the button that is situated under the mirror, the TikToker wrote: "Me flipping the rear-view mirror tab so the headlights don't blind me."

While some may be sitting there in disbelief that not everybody knew what now seems to be a pretty obvious trick, a lot of people flocked to the comments to share their amazement.

"I didn’t know about this either until a few weeks ago and my life has been changed ever since," one comment read, as a second person added: "[I] never knew that’s what that little tab thing is for."

A third person wrote: "My mom told me the other day and I was like stunned [because] I've just tilting the mirror so it shines back at them."

Cars are the gift that keep on giving, because who knew that they were more than just four wheels and a seat?

Well, a few people in the comments made it pretty clear that knowing this little mirror trick was basic knowledge but don't feel ashamed if you didn't know - I didn't either.
