A concerned mom has shared an unsettling video of her daughter writhing on a hospital bed after her drink was allegedly spiked on her very first night out since turning 18.
Millie Taplin, from England, appeared "frozen" and "possessed" for about four hours. She was unable to walk or talk soon after consuming the drink that she and her mother believe was intentionally spiked.
Intended as a stark warning to others, her mother Claire posted a disturbing video of her daughter in hospital, in which the teenager, who is under the influence of drugs, continuously bends her fingers so that they resemble claws and clenches her jaw in an unusual manner.
Warning: Some viewers may find this video distressingMillie and her friends were at a nightclub in her hometown of Southend-on-Sea when a man who was with some people she knew, told her to "try" a vodka and lemonade beverage.
Soon after trying the drink, she was rushed to the emergency room where doctors decided she was most likely given two drugs - "one to paralyze and one to knock her out", Claire revealed in an interview with The Mirror.
It was the only beverage she hadn't bought herself that night and she started feeling sick just a few minutes after trying it.
Millie told the paper: "I had a couple of sips of the drink and went to the smoking area. I came back and felt like I'd drunk too much, and then I went outside to be sick."
Soon enough, she was unable to walk or talk, temporarily losing control of her legs and hands.
Her mom added of the harrowing video: "As disturbing as it is, if that saves one girl, just one, then it’s worth sharing. Nothing can prepare you to see that. It’s just absolutely horrendous. She looked possessed.
"I was numb. I was looking at her and thought, 'what the hell have they given her', because I’ve never seen anything like it in my life. She was completely frozen, her hands were like claws."
"The thing that destroyed me was she knew everything that was going on but she was frozen," she added.

A mother's heartbreaking experience after her daughter was allegedly targeted by drink spiking has shed light on the dangers of going on a night out.
Millie Taplin, at just 18 years old, had a terrifying night out at MooMoo nightclub in Southend, Essex, in the UK, when her drink appeared to have been laced with an unknown substance. Claire, Millie's mother, filmed the distressing aftermath to raise awareness about this serious issue.
On the night of August 1, 2021, Millie began feeling unwell after taking a few sips of a drink someone had bought for her. Initially, she felt overheated and nauseous, but things quickly escalated as her vision blurred.
Her condition worsened after stepping outside, where she became disoriented and eventually vomited. Millie told Sky News, "I’ve never felt like that in my whole life," describing how her legs wouldn't respond, forcing her friends to get a wheelchair for her.
Her situation grew more alarming, with her jaw locking and her fingers curling into claws. This video, which Claire recorded of her daughter in the hospital, was shared to show the severe effects of drink spiking.
In the video Claire filmed, Millie could hardly speak or move, showing just how profoundly the substance had affected her. Claire recalled her last warning before her daughter’s night out, telling Sky News: "The last text message I sent was don't put your drink down, you know, be careful what you drink, but I didn’t even consider someone buying them a drink."
Claire was devastated by the event and told the outlet, "I feel anxious every time she leaves the house."
While Millie recovered and left the hospital just a day later, her mother remained in shock, feeling a sense of helplessness and fear. "I went into work Monday, broke down and I had to come home, I just couldn’t focus," she shared, reflecting on the emotional toll the incident had taken on her.
The mental impact of the ordeal, she said, was something that may affect both her and Millie for a long time.
Essex Police were alerted to the incident and invested the allegations. "We are investigating after we received a report of a woman having a drink spiked at a nightclub in Southend," said a police spokesperson at the time. They confirmed that Millie had been taken to the hospital for treatment, though no arrests have been made so far.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for MooMoo nightclub urged guests to be cautious, reminding patrons to stay close to their drinks at all times. They stated, "We urge all customers to be present when their drink is ordered and that they do not leave it unattended." The nightclub confirmed they were assisting with the police investigation into the matter.

A father has posted a video online that allegedly shows his ex-girlfriend giving their two-year-old daughter alcohol. According to the distraught Twitter user, his former partner had allowed their child to drink a can of Carling lager at her home.
Taking to his Twitter account, the man said: "Look what shes doing to my child giving her alcohol an she wont let me see the kid plz help by retweeting an expose her cheers (sic)."
The man said that he felt the need to put the "historic" video online because the social services had failed to help him when he asked them initially.
Unsurprisingly, other users were horrified by the footage, with one user writing: "Absolutely heartbreaking. That poor little girl. People like this should be sterilised!"
Another added: "It’s heartbreaking I feel so sorry for that little girl."
Despite the fact that he has allegedly been ignored by social services, the father was encouraged to keep fighting to see his daughter. A social media user wrote:
"You really do need a female solicitor and all the footage you can find along with the person who took this as a witness even if they are hostile towards you.
"I am disgusted and shocked by the footage.
"God’s speed in rescuing this poor child from the evil so called mother."
It is thought to have been filmed in Liverpool and a spokeswoman for Merseyside Police today confirmed they had contacted the mother and were investigating. She said: "Officers have been made aware of a concern for safety of a young child after a video was posted on social media featuring the young boy supposedly drinking out of a can of alcohol.

"This was reported to us yesterday evening (10th April) at around 7pm. Officers have spoken to the mother of the child regarding the report and are currently looking into the circumstances of the video."
The tweet has now been deleted, but that hasn't stopped plenty of people (including the father) spreading images of the apparent mother online. It's not known what the next steps will be, but hopefully, no matter what the decision, the child's interests will be at heart.

A dad was outraged after his mother-in-law rubbed whiskey on his six-month-old daughter's gums to help with her teething.
In a post shared on Reddit’s Am I the A***ole forum, the mother of the baby explained the situation, revealing that her husband was not at all happy with the "remedy".
The 28-year-old wrote she was at her mother's house with their newborn - who is "teething horribly" - and sought advice from her on how to help her child.
"My mum does some old [fashioned] things and she’s really into herbs and natural healing and such, so she wanted to try rubbing whiskey on my daughter’s gums," she revealed.
The woman went on to share that because her mom rubbed alcohol on her and her siblings when they were younger, she allowed her to do it to her granddaughter. "It did seem to calm my daughter down a bit," she noted.
But the young mom said that when she got home and told her husband of the remedy, he was "furious," explaining: "He said that’s harmful to our daughter and it does not relieve any pain."
"He got really upset and said I shouldn’t [have] let my mum do something like that, and told me I couldn’t bring our daughter to my mother’s anymore," she went on.
"He’s since called the next two days off of work and is super paranoid watching me every second with our daughter. I feel this is unfair," she said, concluding her post.
Users on the social media platform were divided over the woman's dilemma. Some people commented that she was wrong for allowing her mother-in-law to rub whiskey on her child.
One user penned: "I think in the world where [the] internet is at our fingertips, it should be easy enough to Google if something is safe or not. I'm not a mother and even I know, without having to look it up, that some of those 'old remedies' aren't safe. I'd think that a first-time mother would also know that, even if the advice is coming from her own parent."
Another interjected: "YTA (You're the A***ole) yeah. I mean, you know alcohol is unsafe. It also happens not to work as a topical analgesic; if the baby quietens down, it's because of the general sedative effect of alcohol."
"I think it's hilarious how your mother conflates the use of a well-understood but completely inappropriate drug with 'herbs and natural healing'," they concluded.
A third remarked: "Gently YTA. You're 28 and a mom. You need to make your own judgments, not just listen to your mom without question. And in this case, your judgment was to let your mom give your infant alcohol. Does that sound trustworthy to you?"
Meanwhile, several others shared that her husband's reaction was "excessive" as one person stated: "Her husband literally took two days off work to micromanage parenting because of this? That’s excessive. It’s called having a conversation between two adults, saying 'we shouldn’t do this again', and moving on!"
"Dad staying home from work like she’s driving her child to alcoholism makes him TA here. Also, him trying to keep the child from grandma when grandma did it with mom’s permission is another TA move," the user continued.
A second person pointed out: "Taking off work multiple days to 'watch over' your wife over something like this. This should have been an easy discussion about how that’s not the right way to handle teething and then move on... If this is how something like this is handled how are things that matter going to handled."
A third added: "You're not some monster that's going to harm your child. Honestly, if this is how your husband is reacting, that's a red flag. He's right, it doesn't relieve pain, and if you were to start doing it regularly, yeah, it can be harmful."
"However, it was a one-time thing that you told him about, and now you know not to do it again. He shouldn't be acting like it was a conspiracy to intentionally hurt your daughter," they remarked.
According to medical professionals like Dr. Amos Grunebaum, using whiskey on babies to help with their teething is a big no-no, explaining on BabyMed: "Alcohol is bad for babies because it slows down their systems. Babies are constantly growing rapidly, so any slowing could cause serious developmental problems and defects."
"When adults drink alcohol, it has temporary negative effects, but since they are full-grown, it can’t cause any permanent harm at that moment. Babies cannot make up for the lost time of development when they consume alcohol though," he added.
So there you have it, folks, don't rub alcohol on your babies' gums!
