A heroic postman is doing his deliveries in fancy dress to cheer people up.
This comes amid the coronavirus pandemic, which has changed life as we know it for the foreseeable future, forcing people around the world to stay indoors in a bid to halt the spread of the virus.
These Spanish neighbors started an impromptu band from home:However, this has resulted in some remarkable acts of community spirit, from this neighborhood that came together to give a six-year-old girl a quarantined birthday to remember to those who've chosen to leave out essential items for delivery drivers to say thank you.
But one man has taken it upon himself to make a daily effort to be a walking ray of sunshine in his community, British postman, Jon Matson. Now, and presumably for the duration of the crisis, he's replaced his Royal Mail uniform with fancy dress, and we are here for it.
Per the Sunderland Echo, he said: "Everyone is uncertain at the moment and you are the only person outside of the family that they see, so why not give them something to smile about. It's really nice to see people come out to see me… seeing everybody helps me keep my spirits up too."
The people Jon, 39, serves on his rounds have been delighted by his outfits, and they've become something that they look forward to seeing while stuck at home.
Zoe Grant, a resident on Jon's Tyne and Wear route, said: "I'm proud that Jon is my postman and I can't wait to see his next costume."
Zoe continued: "Jon is sending such a positive message to the residents that this virus is not all doom and gloom and even our key workers who are still out there doing their jobs to keep the nation running and saving lives can do it in good spirit and with a sense of pride and humor."
Hear hear, Jon! Keep up the good work!
