A divorce lawyer has opened up about the five main professions that cheat on their spouses, based on her line of work.

Getting cheated on is one of the most common deal-breakers for many relationships.

While some people claim they can put it behind them and move on, others refuse to forgive or forget their partner being unfaithful to them.

And, apparently, there are some professions that are far more likely to stray than others....

Kate Simonds of Simonds Law Group probably has a bit more experience than most with cheaters, and shared which occupations she sees most often.

According to her, the fifth most likely profession to cheat are pilots and flight attendants, probably due to to the long hours and working far away from home.

In at number four is men in the military - which appears to be backed up by a 2017 study that found 23% of military men cheated during a year-long deployment - while number three is bartenders - which makes sense with the amount of drunk people they're around every night.

The second most likely to cheat according to Kate is police officers, though one might wonder how they find the time to have an affair while working the beat.

And what profession comes in at number one?

Well, according to Kate, if you're married to a firefighter you'd better keep your wits about you, because they're the ones she sees in her office the most often.

And what do all of these professions have in common? Lots of time away from home for work.

Of course, this revelation led to a slew of comments, with some agreeing with her take.

They wrote: "Dang this is on point," and: "Ha! My ex was a military pilot and cheated..."

Others added: "Jobs that put you in the line of a lot of other people all the time. Opportunity is probably key," and: "This Is [100%] true, wish I knew this in my 20's!!!"

Some disagreed, writing: "don't blame the job its the person," and: "Is that the top cheaters, or the ones getting caught the most?"

Kate clarified: "Don’t take this as legal advice but if your husband does one of those five occupations, they’re our frequent fliers."

And while these ones may come out on top statistically in her particular firm, it goes without saying that there's no hard and fast rule that everyone in those professions will be a cheater.

It's also worth noting that people of any and all (and no) professions can and do cheat - because it's all down to a person's character rather than their job - so it's probably wise not to let your guard down whether your partner is a janitor or a CEO...
