An OnlyFans model has been sentenced to four years in prison after a fetish session with a client ended in tragedy.
Michaela Rylaarsdam, a California mother of three, pleaded guilty on May 6 to involuntary manslaughter after originally being charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of 55-year-old Michael Dale. A spokesperson for the San Diego County District Attorney's Office told People that she received a four-year prison sentence.
The case stems from an April 2023 encounter in which Dale allegedly agreed to pay $11,000 for a fetish session with Rylaarsdam, who advertised her services on Secret Hostess under the name "Ashley SinCal."
According to reports cited by prosecutors, Dale arranged the meeting at his Escondido home and requested a series of fetish acts.
He allegedly asked Rylaarsdam to wrap him in Saran Wrap "like a mummy," pour Gorilla Glue into his eyes to seal them closed and glue woman's boots to his feet as part of the encounter.
Prosecutors said videos recorded during the session showed Dale with his wrists bound and a plastic bag over his head. Authorities also alleged his body was fully encased in plastic wrap and duct tape had been placed over his mouth.
When Dale lost consciousness, Rylaarsdam called 911. He was taken to hospital but died the following day.
According to People, the medical examiner determined Dale died from asphyxiation after concluding the bag had been placed on his head for at least eight minutes.
The death was later ruled a homicide.
During a preliminary hearing, Escondido Police Detective Chris Zack testified that although Dale had made requests related to the session, he never asked for a plastic bag to be placed over his head.
During the hearing, Dale's roommate testified that he overheard Dale asking Rylaarsdam to stop. The roommate also claimed Dale offered her more money to end the session.
Rylaarsdam's attorney, Dan Cohen, previously disputed any suggestion that his client intended to kill Dale.
"I think there was no intent to kill and no attempt to cover this up," he said, per the outlet. "And she acted appropriately when she realized this was a problem."
He also said there was "definitely a consensual element" to the case.
A 21-year-old man who killed a young mom and her one-year-old daughter when he hit them at 100mph has developed a disturbing cult following as fans argue he's too "cute" for prison.
As reported by the Tampa Bay Times, in 2018, Cameron Herrin fatally struck the mother and daughter while speeding.
In April of this year, Herrin was given a 24-year prison sentence after he pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide.
Now, a cult following has emerged for the fresh-faced 21-year-old on TikTok, with users on the platform declaring that he is "innocent".
For instance, one person wrote: "He is innocent please give him one chance."
Another added: "Omg [he's] so cute. Release him..."
A third simply wrote: "He is so damn not."
Another fan argued: "He is not [a] criminal it was [an] accident."
A different member of the fanbase wrote alongside a broken heart emoji: "Justice for Cameron. 24 years is too much."
Twenty-four-year-old Jessica Reisinger-Raubenolt and her 20-month-old daughter, Lillia, had been crossing a street in Tampa, Florida when Herrin hit them.
Prosecutors stated that Herrin had been taking part in a street race at the time of the incident.
Per Insider, TikTok videos gushing over Herrin have managed to accumulate billions of views, and videos under the hashtag #justiceforcameron have been viewed over 26 million times.
Many of the videos feature the young convict in court as his sentence is announced.
What's more, a Change.org petition, which has been signed over 28,000 times at the time of writing, has been set up calling for leniency in his sentence.
Herrin's mother has now weighed in on the bizarre fascination with her son, telling the Tampa Bay Times that his fans seem to have "an unhealthy obsession" with him.
She even said they send letters and ring her up in the middle of the night and that the obsession became "scary" when people began stalking members of her family online and allegedly hacked Herrin's partner's accounts.
Widower David Raubenolt requested that the judge give Herrin the maximum sentence of 30 years for ending the lives of his wife and daughter.

In this crazy world we're living in, vlogging has become one of the most profitable and commercial business around. It seems like everyone under the age of 25 has a vlog and, while the majority of them prove to be unsuccessful and are rendered pointless, some of them do take off. Although, to people of a certain age, vlogging may seem like a strange new phenomenon, it's important to remember that is exactly what it is: a phenomenon.
Unsurprisingly, given the growing number of people creating vlogs, vloggers are now looking for new and exciting ways to get their channels noticed. Whether it's Logan Paul going into a "Japanese Suicide Forest" to film a dead body, or two YouTubers going head-to-head in a sold-out boxing match, Vlogging is a big deal.
However, these quests for original and exciting content can have devastating consequences - something which Monalisa Perez found out. Perez, 20, from Halstad Minnesota, accidentally shot her boyfriend dead while filming a stunt for her YouTube channel. The girl fired a gun into an encyclopedia that Pedro Ruiz III was holding to his chest from just a foot away.
Instead of the bullet just lodging into the encyclopedia as they had originally planned, it passed through and killed 22-year-old Ruiz in front of their three-year-old child and 30 onlookers who had visited their Halstad home.
Perez pled guilty to second-degree manslaughter last December and had she been convicted at trial, she would've been facing up to 10 years in prison.
But, yesterday, a Minnesota judge sentenced Perez to 180 days in prison and 10 years of supervised probation, as was agreed per the terms of her plea agreement.
In a bizarre twist, Perez has been told that she can serve the sentenced over multiple 10-day increments over a period of three years. She has also been banned from owning a firearm for the rest of her life.
It's not the first stunt that the pair has played, with there being videos on her channel of her jumping out of trees and Perez serving Ruiz a doughnut covered in baby powder. Just hours before the fatal prank, Perez tweeted that they were set to film "one of the most dangerous videos ever," saying it was Ruiz's ideas and not hers.
[[twitterwidget||https://twitter.com/MonalisaPerez5/status/879459393145888768]]
According to Perez, Ruiz had convinced her to do the stunt by showing her other books that he had shot where the bullet hadn't passed through. And, despite her calling the emergency services as soon as she realised that the prank had gone wrong, the young father was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
At the time of the shooting, Perez was pregnant with their second child.
While the circumstances of the death were largely avoidable, it's a tragedy to hear of someone dying at such a young age - especially as they leave two children behind. Not that you need me to tell you this, but don't mess about with guns.

A Las Vegas porn star has been accused of beheading her partner so that she could be with his son.
Devyn Michaels, 45, once known in the industry as Nikki Fairchild and Tracee Tavarez, stands accused of killing her partner, 47-year-old Johnathan Willette.
In August 2023, Henderson police discovered Willette’s headless body wrapped in a sheet inside his home.
According to CBS Austin, his severed head was missing, and investigators said chemicals had been poured over the corpse in an apparent attempt to destroy evidence.
The smell of chemicals filled the air, and fumes emanated from the remains.
There were no signs of forced entry, suggesting Willette may have known and willingly let his killer inside.
“This wasn’t random,” Chief Deputy District Attorney John Giordani told the court.
“It was personal.”
Detectives later concluded that Michaels may have taken the head to her home in Las Vegas and disposed of it in a trash bin later collected by sanitation crews.
The head and murder weapon have never been found.

Prosecutors allege Michaels committed the murder so she could start a new life with her children and her secret husband - Willette’s adult son, Deviere.
“This is the future that she saw and that she wanted,” Giordani told jurors this week.
“And the only way to have that future was with John out of the picture.”
According to CBS 8, Willette had allegedly been considering reconciling with Michaels but planned to move his son Deviere out of the house, potentially disrupting Michaels' desired future.

Michaels, who initially accepted a plea deal for second-degree murder in 2024, later withdrew her guilty plea in July.
“I know right now no one in the family is going to believe me,” she said at the time.
“I know right now no one in the family feels that I am innocent at any point, and I understand that, but I can actually prove my innocence. I actually can. And I'm not going to stop fighting to prove my innocence."
Now, she faces first-degree murder charges and a potential life sentence if convicted.
Her attorney, Robert Draskovich, insists the wrong person is on trial.
He claimed in court that it was Deviere Willette, not Michaels, who had the motive and the know-how to commit the crime without leaving a trace.
“Look at the motivations, and find her not guilty,” Draskovich told the jury.
He argued that Deviere, a home-security installer, “hated his father” and was about to lose his place in the home.
But prosecutors have never named Deviere a suspect. He testified in court and, when asked if he killed his father, responded plainly: “No, sir.”
The trial is expected to continue for several weeks. Jurors will hear testimony from family members, review forensic evidence and cellphone data, and examine graphic crime scene photos.
Prosecutors are aiming to prove premeditated, first-degree murder - a charge that carries a mandatory life sentence under Nevada law.

More harrowing details have been revealed following the tragic case of a British woman who flew to Florida with the intention of being murdered by a man she met on a fetish website.
Sonia Exelby was discovered lifeless on October 17, 2023, in a shallow grave in Marion Oaks, Florida, just days after traveling to the United States.
The 32-year-old, who had been reported missing after failing to board her return flight to England on October 13, was found following an investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).
Her death was ruled a homicide caused by multiple stab wounds, and a man named Dwain Hall, 53, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping, and credit card fraud in connection with her death.

On October 11, in the days leading up to her tragic death, Exelby recorded a haunting video with Hall inside an Airbnb in Reddick, Florida.
The footage, obtained from Hall’s phone, showed a visibly bruised and disheveled Exelby, who appeared subdued and hesitant.
She sat silently, rarely making eye contact, as Hall asked her about her wish to die. In the video, she tearfully explained that she wanted to be killed because she felt like an “awful person” and had “crushed everyone who ever loved me", per The New York Post.
“I needed to be beaten and suffer cause I’m such a piece of s***,” she said, her voice trembling as she reluctantly agreed with Hall’s provocations. “Good, good,” Hall responded, continuing to ask for her consent and confirming her desire for a violent end.
Authorities later confirmed that Exelby had expressed second thoughts about the plan just hours before the video was recorded.
In a message to a friend on Discord, she revealed her confusion and fear about going through with the plan. "I thought he’d do it quick and not give my mind time to stew," Exelby wrote.
She had also told her friend that Hall had pressured her to record multiple disclaimer videos and write a letter to her family.

Exelby’s tragic decision did not come out of nowhere, as for years, she had struggled with severe mental health issues, including multiple suicide attempts.
Her desire to die was not an isolated incident but rather part of a troubling history of online interactions, where she confided in strangers through platforms like Telegram about her wish for a violent death.
Hall, who met Exelby on a fetish website two years ago, later claimed that he was trying to “mentor” her and help her through her struggles.
However, authorities believe the man had darker intentions. After Exelby traveled to Florida to meet him, the two engaged in sexual activities multiple times, but things quickly took a sinister turn.
The video recorded by Exelby in the Airbnb showed the true extent of Hall’s manipulation and his role in encouraging her to follow through with her deadly plan.
After Exelby’s disappearance, the FDLE launched an investigation.
Hall initially provided conflicting statements, but investigators soon uncovered evidence linking him to Exelby’s death.
A shovel was discovered near the location of her shallow grave, and police later discovered that Hall had attempted to use Exelby’s credit cards fraudulently after her death.
Authorities also found charges made to the late woman's British debit card, including a payment to Hall’s employer, Solver Wolf’s Roadside Assistance, for $1,200.
Further investigation revealed that he had mailed a knife to a friend in Ohio shortly after Exelby’s murder, and the knife contained possible blood evidence linked to her.
Despite his attempts to cover up his actions, the suspect was arrested on November 17 and charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping, and fraudulent use of credit cards. He pleaded not guilty during a court appearance and remains in Marion County Jail without bond.
FDLE Commissioner Mark Glass has condemned the tragic killing, stating: “This type of violent crime and disregard for human life will not be tolerated in our state - those who commit such heinous crimes will be held fully accountable.”
Exelby’s family, particularly her boyfriend Stevie Hunt, expressed their horror and despair at the news of her death.
Hunt had previously spoken out about Exelby’s struggles with mental health, pleading for her safety in a social media post after her disappearance.
“It pains me to write this, I never thought I’d be writing this. The love of my life Sonia Exelby is missing. She’s struggling deeply right now with her mental health, and we are terrified for her safety,” he wrote.
The case has drawn widespread attention in both the UK and the US, with authorities vowing to bring justice for Exelby.

Matthew Falder, it could be said, is a wolf in sheep's clothing. The balding, bespectacled university lecturer was arrested in his office on 21 June last year following a global investigation by the National Crime Agency.
Using a number of social media accounts, Falder posed as a depressed female artist called "Liz". He then persuaded victims - some of them children - into sharing nude images ostensibly for life drawing. He would then blackmail them, sometimes coercing them into committing crimes against a third person such as rape or assault. Many of Falder's victims suffered extreme trauma and at least three attempted suicide.
Others were forced to perform acts including self-harm, posing next to racist signs or licking toilet seats or used tampons. The consequent content was then posted on "hurtcore" websites on the dark web where Falder asked for suggestions on his next steps.
As court documents confirm, the individuals were persuaded to send "increasingly severe self-generated indecent images of themselves, the focus of these images being to humiliate and degrade".
With victims all over the world, the four-year investigation brought together the FBI, GCHQ, Europol, Australian Federal Police, New Zealand Police and even the Israel Police.
In October 2017, Falder pleaded guilty to 137 charges from 46 complainants and was sentenced to 32 years in jail. However, today it has been reported that Falder's jail sentence has now been slashed by seven years.
The former post-graduate researcher, from Cheshire, UK, won an appeal against the original ruling. It's been said that Falder's lawyers are the reason that the sentence was reduced. However, Lord Justice Holroyde - sitting with Mr Justice King and the Recorder of Winchester Judge Keith Cutler - stated that a new, "appropriate" custodial sentence had been given which is based on the "principle of totality".
"This was grave offending with undoubtedly profound consequences for those who were the victims of this applicant," Barrister Andrew Smith QC admitted, before arguing that "the custodial element of 32 years imposed was manifestly excessive".
It was only thanks to a major breakthrough that Falder was eventually caught. Following an FBI investigation, the National Crime Agency discovered that what they believed to be three of the most prolific dark web paedophiles - "Inthegarden", "evilmind" and "666devil" - were actually one person.
Falder, who also placed spy cameras in bathrooms, stands convicted of encouraging the rape of a child, blackmail, voyeurism and making indecent images of children. On the dark web, he boasted that he was "100 per cent anonymous". Speaking about a 14-year-old victim, he said that he would "mentally f**k her up", adding "I am not sure I care if she lives or dies."
[[youtubewidget||https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WUM220OgwjU]]
"In 25 years as a reporter covering countless trials I have never heard evidence so sickening," stated Phil Mackie, who sat in on last year's trial for the BBC. "Matthew Falder never showed any emotion during the three-and-a-half days of sentencing at Birmingham Crown Court, but for the brave few victims who faced their tormentor during sentencing, it was hard to contain their tears."
He added: "Hardened investigators were also visibly upset as some of the evidence was read out. Those who suffered extreme abuse and degradation say they are still suffering the impact of what he made them do, but it's hoped that the knowledge he's behind bars will begin to ease their nightmares."
This is the British legal system. Old, antiquated, allowing legal loopholes to be exploited. Absolutely no legal protection for the victims. Our legal system is in utter chaos. #Lawyers

The law in UK is broken when this sicko can manipulate the system through his lawyer to get a hefty period like this taken away from his sentence.https://t.co/oNL11RewJ0

This is outrageous- a real slap across the faces of his victims and their families who've been left to pick up the pieces of their shattered lives. ??

Falder, who holds undergraduate, masters and doctorate degrees, is a University of Cambridge alumnus whose friends described him as well-liked, funny and larger than life. However, sentencing the “warped and sadistic” academic for “a tale of ever-increasing depravity”, Judge Philip Parker QC said: “As for your equally extraordinary sexual offending - no-one who knew you, above ground, had an inkling of what you were doing below the surface.”
What appeared to save Falder is the fact that none of the attacks on his victims were physical. Judge Philip Parker QC described him as an "internet highwayman" who "wanted to assume total control over [his] victims".
It was this need to assert his power over others that manifested itself in his horrific crimes. However, in the eyes of the law, he was merely a manipulator - a puppeteer who ceaselessly tried his luck.
Though the situation is different in many ways, it is interesting to note that former Olympic doctor Larry Nassar is currently serving up to 300 years in prison for his child grooming and paedophilic crimes.
Whether you believe that 32 years as a sentence was excessive or not, that more than a fifth of the sentence can be removed - that the original sentencing could have apparently gone so wrong - is a sure sign that even legal experts can't agree on the severity of these crimes.
