A woman was reportedly been fired from her job after allegedly leaving a disturbing message on a restaurant receipt instead of tipping her server, an incident that quickly sparked outrage online and led to a wave of backlash.
The incident took place at Cazuelas Mexican Restaurant & Cantina in Columbus, Ohio, where staff later shared an image of the receipt that spread rapidly across social media.
The customer allegedly left no tip for her server and instead wrote a message that staff described as “disgusting”.
The receipt reportedly read: “ZERO (tips), YOU SUCK,” followed by: “I HOPE TRUMP DEPORTS YOU!!!”
The post triggered immediate outrage online, with many users condemning the message and calling for accountability after the image went viral.
The woman was later identified as Stephanie Lovins, a 49-year-old former realtor from Blacklick, Ohio.
Lovins was previously affiliated with Century 21, although her profile has since been removed from the company’s website.
Reports also suggest her online presence disappeared rapidly following the backlash, with her social media accounts taken down and contact details becoming unreachable.
Century 21 responded to the controversy, saying: “We are aware of the situation with the agent in question. Hate has no place within the Century 21 brand, and we are taking this very seriously.”
The company later confirmed she was no longer affiliated with the brand, stating her connection had ended earlier in the year.
Following the viral spread of the receipt, Lovins is believed to have lost her job amid the fallout. Efforts to contact her and her husband have reportedly been unsuccessful.
Social media users also shared alleged posts from Lovins in which she denied responsibility for the message, claiming her card had been lost or stolen and used fraudulently.
However, restaurant staff said witnesses recognised her as the person who left the note.
Staff at Cazuelas defended the server at the centre of the incident, describing him as a hardworking employee who was simply doing his job.
Speaking to local media, Cazuelas head of marketing Fabio Oribo said the server, Ricardo, works only one shift a week while holding down a second job.
“He only works one day a week, which is Sunday. He has two jobs,” Oribo said.
“It’s just not right, just not right. He’s a really good person.”
In response to the incident, members of the public launched a GoFundMe campaign for Ricardo. Originally aiming to raise $1,000, the fundraiser surged past $39,000 as donations poured in from supporters.
Organiser Anna Overman said the goal was to support a worker who was unfairly targeted and to “drown out hate with love”.
A separate company sharing a similar name to Lovins’ husband’s business was wrongly targeted, prompting its owner to issue a public clarification after receiving online criticism.

A restaurant worker in Mississippi has been terminated from their position after writing a racist note on the receipt of an unsuspecting customer.
Alexia Washington was with her friends in Oxford, Mississippi when she went to a Who Dat's drive-thru and ordered an assortment of food and drink - but when she drove off with her meal, she found an offensive note on her receipt that read: "Black b*tches in silver car".
Taking to Facebook afterwards, Washington said: "I have been racially ridiculed and demeaned as an African American Female [sic]. I seek justice for this hate crime and I will no longer remain silent. I've lived in Oxford for 5 years and I'm still having to deal with this type of ignorance."
Who Dat's immediately took action after the post went viral, with manager Wylie Coleman saying in a statement via Facebook that they were shocked at Washington's treatment, and that necessary action had been taken.
They wrote: "Ms. Washington and her friend were making their regular round of the drive-thru & purchased food & drink. In shock about the possibility that something like this could be happening here, she re-read the ticket which describes where the location of where the food is going as 'black b*tches in silver car'.
"[...] The next step was taken by Ms. Washington to bring this to my attention on Friday night.. I spoke with her in shock & remorse. Unexplainable to me were the words on the receipts. The first step was taken by myself to the employee who was informed that they were terminated immediately."

"Lex Washington was nothing but sweet & communicative during the entire events that transpired. I am not only apologizing to her but to everyone & anyone that could subject to a label in life, [sic]" added Coleman in his Facebook statement.

A server has sparked debate after she claims she was fired for receiving a $100 tip from a customer. Jeez Louise!
The server, Mar, took to TikTok to explain that she recently lost her job after a customer had tipped a pretty hefty sum of cash. While this doesn't seem like an incident worth losing a job over, it eventually became one, as the customer eventually ended up calling the restaurant to dispute the tip amount.
"I got fired today, and I'm going to tell you why. I didn't do anything and that's the crazy part, had I done something [then] I deserve it, I literally did nothing wrong," Mar began in her video.
She claimed that while working, she had been given a generous tip from a customer. At the restaurant she worked for, servers are required to inform the manager if they were given a tip over 40%, and it would then be put into the system for them. After getting a $100 tip for her service, Mar immediately took it to her manager so it could be entered into their system.
"The tip plus the total check equaled the grand total at the bottom with the signature [of the customer]," Mar recounted, adding that she had been unaware that she should not have accepted the tip. Soon after, Mar was called into a meeting with the restaurant's general manager.
Mar was questioned over the $100 tip she received, informing them that she had received it and that her manager had allowed her take it since he didn't see any issue. "Then I found out that the guy who paid call[ed]," Mar said.
This particular customer argued that his signature had been forged by Mar on the receipt, with Mar's boss taking the customer's side and firing her. "Even though I've never been written up, even though I'm a good employee, [and] they were literally about to make me a trainer. They sided with the guest and I'm terminated now because of it," Mar said.
She added that there had been no space on the receipt for her to cross out the original tip amount and change it to $100. "Instead of sitting down and being like, 'Hmm, maybe the guest is the person who made the mistake,' they had to point the finger at me," she argued. "I offered many times to give the money back because they said that the company had to reimburse him $80 and that it was too much so they needed to terminate me because it was 'my mistake.'"
In the comments section below the video, opinions were a little divided, with several people saying that it looks obvious that Mar had changed the tip amount.
"Nah you wrote that in bb. He left you a $2 tip. Making the total 112 and change. You added a 1 and 0 up top, tried to change the 1 on the total to a 2 [sic]," one person wrote.
Someone else added: "It doesn't look like he left a $20 tip but u can tell the 1 is a different hand writing to me."
A further user sided with Mar, commenting: "The problem with 'customer is always right.'"
"Girlll you need to sue them for wrongful termination, that is not okay," another comment read.
What do you think about the situation? Was the receipt forged, or do you think Mar was unfairly fired? Sound off in the comments!
A waitress has shared a very creepy note she received on a customer's check.
It is a sad reality that far too many servers have been subjected to unwanted advances in the workplace - sometimes by their co-workers, often by diners at the establishment.
Recently, a patron at an unknown eatery left his waitress a $1,000 tip on a $128.89 meal - sounds great, right? But unfortunately, the man massively undermined what could have been a wonderful gesture by leaving the server an uncouth message on the receipt.
He wrote: "Beautiful nipples, Princess. Call me."
The diner then signed off: "The Master" and included his Twitter handle, @gentlemanluxory - a Twitter account that is now suspended.
The receipt was originally posted on Reddit but has now made its way to various other social media platforms including Twitter and Facebook.
Needless to say, it has sparked a big discussion on customer etiquette and inappropriate conduct in hospitality venues.
One person wrote: "I don’t see anything wrong with a customer leaving a note and a number to ask a waiter\waitress out or to call them. They can always politely decline. This note however is a bit creepy and offensive, definitely inappropriate to comment on her nipples."
Another added: "All he had to offer was the tip. Sad really. Could have given her 50, and acted like a gentleman."
A third added: "‘Beautiful nipples’ what kind of response was he expecting from that? Imagine someone complimenting your nips."
A fourth commenter took issue with some of the other commenters who implied that the waitress should be "grateful" that she received such a hefty tip.
They argued: "He commented that he liked her nipples and signed it ‘the Master’. That's not some waitress being overly sensitive, that's genuinely creepy.
"I'd take the guy's money as payment for having to deal with his creepiness and I would also blast him for being a giant sleaze. She has no obligation to return the money or keep quiet about his behavior."
A final commenter agreed: “Sadly this is just another example of how some men continue to objectify women and feel that they have the right to make sexual comments about them.
“It's creepy and degrading and I'm not surprised the waitress felt dirty reading it. I see a comment below saying 'Would you still find it creepy if he looked like Brad Pitt?' and the answer is a resounding YES.
“I don't care how good looking a man is - if he says stuff like this he's a misogynist and that's never attractive. I'd keep the tip though - I'd see it as compensation for sexual harassment.”

A couple of customers were left furious after they received an offensive message from a staff member on a receipt at a restaurant where they'd just eaten.
Stopping in at a Little Caesars for a takeout pizza in Henrico County, Virginia, Rosman Harris and Marcus Robertson (who are cousins) were shocked to read the word "gay" where their names should have been. To add insult to injury, they were not asked to provide a name at the server, although other patrons at the restaurant reportedly were.
"It said, 'gay,'"recalled Harris of the offending receipt, speaking to WTVR. He revealed that while he does identify as homosexual neither Harris, nor his cousin Robertson, revealed to staff at Little Caesars that day of their sexuality.
"I was baffled, and it made me semi-angry because I feel like it’s 2019 and we’re still having to deal with this. It was this preconceived notion of 'Oh, these are gay men.' So, why would you write that on the ticket? I’m not understanding that."

They took the incident to the manager once they noticed the amendment to their receipt, and revealed that the manager did not give them an explanation as to why the word was on their receipt.
Taking to Facebook after the fact, Marcus Robertson posted a picture of the receipt in question, and recounted his own experience of the events. He was just as upset as his cousin, adding that the server had failed to notice that Robertson was deaf.
"So the other night my cousin and I experience something that I’ve never thought I would experience. Like how are we in 2019 and I’m being discriminated against because of my sexually [sic] .
Like I’m hurt, irritated and pissed off like how can you be so rude and disrespectful to a paying customer to label my name as gay when you didn’t even ask my name, so when I told my cousin your excuse to her was that I’m loud and being rude to you. When my cousin explained to you that I was deaf reason for me speaking loud your response was ok."

Robertson's post was posted last Sunday, and over the weekend, the cousins returned to the store to discover that the employee in question was still working the till. Little Caesars, though, responded after this, terminating the employee involved, with Tina Orozco, Director of Communications for Little Caesars corporate, saying that swift action had been taken.
"Little Caesars maintains a zero-tolerance policy against any violations of professional conduct. This is a highly unusual, isolated situation at a store locally owned and operated by a franchisee. The franchise owner took immediate action to investigate this matter and has terminated the employment of the individual involved in the incident."
Despite the employee being fired, Robertson and Harris say they are still waiting for a personal apology from Little Caesars themselves. "For something like this to happen, not only does it impact your business, it impacts your image as well," added Robertson.
