Chewbacca is renowned for being one of the silver screen's most lovable characters.
So it's unsurprising that one woman provoked furious backlash when she was caught on camera shoving Chewy.
In a video taken at Walt Disney World and posted to TikTok, the tourist can be seen interrupting the Star Wars character's interaction with a group of children by screaming and shoving him.
Shared by travel blogger Maria (@nightmareadventures), the clip begins by showing Chewbacca and fellow Star Wars character Rey chatting to some kids at the Hollywood Studios section of Disney World.
Watch the shocking moment here:However, midway through Rey giving a speech to the kids, a woman sneaks up behind Chewbacca and screams in his ear. She even gives him a gentle shove.
Rey quickly steps in and lets the crowd know that they'll be moving elsewhere because of the guest's rowdy behavior. "May the force be with you," she tells the kids, before both she and Chewy head to another area of the theme park.
Maria made it perfectly clear how she felt about the woman's interruption in overlay text which read: "When a grown adult ruins the experience for the kids because she thought she was being 'funny!'"
"Poor kids stood there confused when Rey and Chewie walked away," Maria added.
In the video's caption, she reiterated: "Don’t be that adult that ruins a nice interaction between kids and characters because you think you’re being funny."
Many people agreed with Maria and were outraged by the clip, which has racked up over 3.5 million views.
"She could have seriously hurt the actor. They’re on stilts," one person wrote in the comments. "Should be a lifetime ban for putting hands on cast members" another added, while a third question: "What exactly was she trying to do?"
However, others defended the woman and claimed that it was the cast members' fault for not handling the situation better.
"No. The cast members ruined it for the kids by not being able to handle the moment better. They could've continued," one person commented. Another agreed, writing: "Nah that’s when you ask the lady to leave and you keep on doing your job. Cast members didn’t want to be there so they used that as an excuse to leave."
