There's a common belief that, when people are searching for their soulmate, it's "opposites" that attract most. However, after a recent conversation thread went viral on Twitter, it's transpired that a lot of folks out there are drawn to other halves that look almost identical to them.
It all started when Junior Sandres, who goes by the Twitter handle @jrsandres, posted this rather adorable picture of himself and his girlfriend:
For anyone who didn't know these two were dating, it'd be very easy to mistake them for brother and sister. They have the same smiles, same eyes, same face shape - heck, I'd believe them if they told me they were twins.
And the similarities didn't end there.
"What’s crazy is we have so much in common," said Sandres. "Same exact music taste, same eye sight (I wear her glasses when I lose mine) same teeth same mom wow tell me that isn’t crazy."
But some people weren't as shocked as others when they found out that Junior and his doppelganger were dating. As it turns out, there are tons of couples who frequently get mistaken for relatives instead of romantic partners - and some of them contributed their selfies to prove that.
"Yes [I swear to God], people say me and my boo look alike i don’t see it," wrote Twitter user, @HeyItzJane_, who shared this picture:
"10/10 can relate," added @alicelunesz, who shared some adorable snaps of herself and her girlfriend. "Definitely my soulmate & definitely not related."
"SWEAR YALL AINT RELATED ?!?" commented one person. "BRUHHH YALL PRETTY AS F**K BUT I COULDVE SWORN UALL WAS TWINsS."
"It gets even weirder learning our stories & timelines of stuff but yeah, not related at all lmao," @alicelunesz replied.
They were then joined by user @pmaz_, who posted this cute pic of himself and his partner:
And then @amaniec_ rocked up to share a picture of herself, her partner, and their little one. "We had a baby... so now we all look like siblings," she joked.
As similar as all the other couples may look, though, none of them quite hold up to the uncanny likeness that Junior and his girlfriend share.

It just goes to show, then, that sometimes it isn't always differences that draw people together. On the contrary, in fact, it might just be the similarities.
However, if you do find yourself in a situation like any of these couples have going on, you should prepare yourself for the inevitable "are you sure you guys aren't related?" line of questioning that all of them seem to have received in the comments. And the suspicious glances. And, no doubt, the horrified looks they must get if anyone catches them showing any affection in public.
But - similar or not - all of these loved-up couples seem perfectly happy with one another, and that matters more than any physical features ever could.

Two twin sisters have confused their followers by claiming that their sons are brothers, cousins – and twins.
Identical twins Brittany and Briana married identical twins Josh and Jeremy Salyers, and then gave birth to baby boys within months of each other.
Unsurprisingly, their sons Jax and Jett look adorably similar. But people have still been left baffled by the claim that the baby boys are more than just cousins.
In a cute Instagram post on their joint social media account, Brittany and Briana shared a snap of their two little sons alongside the mind-bending caption: "Cousins, genetic brothers, and quaternary twins."
Many people took to the comments section to express their confusion.
"How are they genetic brothers exactly?" asked one person.
"What does quaternary twins mean?" questioned another.
"Not arguing just really trying to understand the science," a third wrote.
But others jumped to the twin’s aid and explained:
"The fathers have the same DNA and the mother's had the same DNA they both had their own babies which would show the same DNA as a mother and the father for both babies. That would make them more brothers than they are cousin," one person wrote.
"On a family tree they will be listed as cousins. But if they sent in DNA to Ancestory.com it would come back as they are siblings," another wrote.
Meanwhile, many followers gushed over the baby boys and exclaimed that they looked so alike.
Brittany and Briana met Josh and Jeremy at a festival for twins in 2017. After a whirlwind romance, the boys proposed to them just six months later.
The four twins had a joint wedding in August 2018, then moved into one big-shared Virginia home.
Having experienced every major life milestone together, it only made sense that the twins should become parents at the same time.
So they were thrilled to announce that they were both pregnant back in Summer 2020.
"Guess what!!?? BOTH couples are pregnant!" they wrote in a joint Instagram post breaking the news.
The post continued: "We are thrilled and grateful to experience overlapping pregnancies and to share this news with you all!
"Our children will not only be cousins, but full genetic siblings and quaternary multiples! Can't wait to meet them and for them to meet each other!"

A mother has responded after there was confusion when she revealed that her two sons with different skin tones are biological brothers.
Maddie Houser Webb often takes to TikTok to share videos about her family and occasionally engages in question-and-answer sessions.
Back in October, Maddie responded to a question regarding her two sons, Jaden, 15, and Callum, 3, about whether they are biologically related due to having different skin tones.
"Are those both your sons?" the text on the video asked. Maddie, Jaden, and Callum, who were recording together, gave a thumbs up and gave an enthusiastic "yes".
As the Q&A continued, another question read "Is one of them adopted?" to which the family simply replied "Nope."
Maddie then went on to clarify that she gave birth to both of her children and that they are indeed biologically related.
The mother of the two boys has since spoken to People to further clear up any confusion, hopefully putting an end to the questions once and for all.
"My husband and I are Mom and Dad to them both. My sons are technically maternal half-brothers. But we would never say 'half'," Maddie said.
She continued: "People comment on how our family looks often, especially with our presence on social media. Our comment sections are often filled with lots of questions but also many people who come from families that look just like ours. We think representation is so important."
Despite their age gap, Maddie is clearly full of pride as she reflects on the bond shared between her sons. "The boys love to shoot hoops together and watch movies. Cal cheers Jaden on at his sports games and meets. We also travel a lot as a family, so they go on lots of adventures."
Comments flooded in on the TikTok video, with one person writing: "People clearly don’t know how genetics work lol I would assume one has a black father and one has a white father," to which Maddie replied: "100%".
A second person said: "Why do people always have something to say. Y’all got a beautiful family," while a third added: "People who obsess about siblings not looking like each other need to get a life. All that matters is that they are loved & cared for."
Another person shared their experiences: "I had a set of fraternal TWINS in my class once, one the spitting image of his Kenyan dad, the other blond & blue eyed like mom. Genetics are wild."

A mother has been praised by people online for leaving one child out of her daughter's class off the invite list for her seventh birthday party.
Birthday parties are without doubt the highlights of any schoolchild's calendar, and nothing parallels the excitement of being handed an invitation to a classmate's party.
Conversely, there is also nothing quite as crushing as thinking you're going to get that invite only to find you haven't made the cut - which is what happened to one classmate of this particular little girl.
Her mother took to Reddit's famous 'Am I The A**hole' forum to reveal exactly why she chose to leave just one girl from the class out, and it's safe to say most other users were on her side.
The anonymous mom shared: "My (28 female) and husband (29 male) have a daughter Payton (7 female). Payton goes to a small school with 20 kids in her grade. Her birthday party is next month and we sent out invitations to her friends at school. We invited the whole class except one student."
Explaining why she deliberately left her out, she continued: "The student we did not invite has bullied Payton several times (we’ve had meetings with the school and parents). Obviously Payton doesn’t want this kid at her party."
She revealed examples of the bullying included Payton coming home crying because the girl had said she "wasn't pretty, too chubby, etc" and told her she couldn't possibly be a cheerleader as she was not "pretty", and ruined games that Payton participated in with other children.
Despite being nasty to Payton, the little girl was pretty upset about being the only one not invited, as the mom added: "The other girls mother called me to talk about it saying how now her daughter is crying she was the only kid not invited and everyone at school is talking about the party. (Payton’s parties are known by her classmates to be very over the top).
"I explained her daughter isn’t nice to my daughter and that’s the reason she wasn’t invited (the mother knows this). The mother said I’m teaching my child to be a 'bully' and use her wealth to make friends. I disagreed."
She then revealed that the girl's mother asked if she would reconsider if her daughter wrote Payton an apology letter, but confirmed that she would not be changing her mind and inviting her regardless, which has led to it being a "big deal" every time she sees the girl's mother.
The mom also clarified that the invitations were not handed out to the children in the classroom and that she had handed them to the parents so as not to make the girl feel left out or embarrassed.
She also shared a further update after Payton's party to reveal that she had a great time, but said that the girl that wasn't invited did try to show up but couldn't make it past the guard post of the gated community their home is in.
Users took to the comments to reassure the mother that she wasn't the 'a**hole' in the situation, writing: "[Not the a**hole] You are teaching your daughter that putting limits on people who hurt you is okay, even if she is 7 years old."
Another added: "NTA. Her kid has bullied yours so of course Payton doesn’t want her there. This is a great time for the bullies mom to teach them that actions have consequences."
A third commented: "NTA. You aren’t teaching your child to be a bully, only to not socialize with bullies. Lol. Forced apologies aren’t useful to any situation. The other mother needs to move on somewhere. Perhaps take the time to teach her daughter that actions have consequences and no one wants the company of a bully."
