Brian Laundrie conspiracy theorists believe his dad Chris was spotted planting his son's notebook at the reserve where the 24-year-old's body was found.

Unverified claims from online sleuths say the now-deceased fugitive's dad had something to do with the finding of Brian's notebook - a damning claim that has not been confirmed or verified.

Sleuths claim a photo shows Chris carrying the notebook in question into a bag, The Sun reports.

Officials have made no suggestion that Chris has planted any evidence, but internet investigators have been trawling through pictures of the crime scene hoping to find clues about Brian's death.

A notebook belonging to Brian was found near to his partial remains at a Florida reserve last month. One user on Twitter shared a photo of Chris carrying a plastic bag with a notebook-shaped object at the bottom of the bag, with the caption: "Notebook?"

"It's insane we are hearing nothing about this case anymore nothing about the notebook or anything it's like this never even happened," commented someone on the tweet.

Others are claiming that Chris' finding of the bag was "convenient" given how officers reportedly took it away. "Right where they left it," commented a person on that tweet.

However, the photo they pulled was from the time Chris and his wife Roberta were seen leaving the Carlton Reserve after finding their son's belongings.

Laundrie was the subject of a nationwide manhunt before his remains were found on October 20 in Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park.

Dental records confirmed that they belonged to the fugitive, who was last seen six days before his missing fiancée, Gabby Petito, 22, was found dead in Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming.

It comes as a gun was fished out of the water last month in an area where Laundrie frequented with his family.

Fort De Soto Park was one of the areas that Dog the Bounty Hunter had been searching for the fugitive, whose skeletal remains were found on October 20 in the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park near the Carlton Reserve.

The gun was submitted to the Florida Crime Information Center and the National Crime Information Center.

Dog the Bounty Hunter had joined the manhunt for Laundrie on September 27, 10 days after the 23-year-old was reported missing by his family.

The 68-year-old reality star's first port of call was the home of Laundrie's parents, Christopher and Roberta.
