Of course, the news comes a little over two years after Depp, now 61, emerged victorious in their very public defamation case that stemmed from Heard's 2018 op-ed for The Washington Post - where she described herself as a victim of domestic abuse.

Despite initially being awarded $15 million by the courts, the former couple came to an agreement that Heard would only pay $1 million in order to settle the case.

Following the trial, the Daily Mail revealed that Head, now 38, has moved to the Spanish city of Madrid and is content to raise her two-year-old daughter away from the Los Angeles noise.

The actress - who is bilingual in Spanish - told reporters in 2023 that she "loves Spain so much" and is happy to have made a home there with daughter Oonagh Paige Heard.

In fact, local outlet El Diario de Mallorca has even reported that the Aquaman actress has supposedly changed her name in search for privacy, and is now going by Martha Jane Cannary - the real name of legendary gunslinger Calamity Jane.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star is now believed to be arriving in San Sebastian today (September 24), to promote his latest offering, Modi, at the film festival.

When asked about her ex-husband's arrival in Spain, Heard reportedly replied: "I'm living here in Madrid, I love Spain.

"I'm very lucky to be here, and regarding my past, I don't feel like thinking or talking about it, because I'm happy and in peace."

"She is focused on raising her daughter," a source previously told PEOPLE in 2022 regarding Heard's decision to remain in Spain. "She spends every day with her girl. They stroll around, visit parks and enjoy family time. Amber is a great mom."

Additionally, Depp has also moved on peacefully following their high-profile court case, with a a source telling US Weekly that the actor spends a lot of his time in the England capital of London.

"Johnny is in a good place," the source said. "He really feels at home in London. He’s happy and busy. There’s been a weight lifted."

In her Instagram statement following the couple's settlement, Heard explained that she never "chose" the outcome of her relationship with Depp, explaining: "After a great deal of deliberation I have made a very difficult decision to settle the defamation case brought against me by my ex-husband in Virginia."

"It's important for me to say that I never chose this. I defended my truth and in doing so my life as I knew it was destroyed. The vilification I have faced on social media is an amplified version of the ways in which women are re-victimised when they come forward [...] I have made no admission. This is not an act of concession. There are no restrictions or gags with respect to my voice moving forward," she added.

The Rum Diary star continued: "I make this decision having lost faith in the American legal system, where my unprotected testimony served as entertainment and social media fodder [...] time is precious and I was to spend my time productively and purposefully."

Heard and Depp first met back in 2009, and would go on to tie the knot in 2015.

Their marriage lasted two years, with the couple eventually divorcing in 2017.
