Shocking new footage shows Nick Reiner at gas station just before arrest over murder of his parents

Newly released video footage has revealed the moments leading up to Nick Reiner’s arrest, offering a clearer picture of his movements in the hours after prosecutors say his parents were killed.

The footage, obtained by law enforcement sources, shows Reiner, 32, appearing calm as he goes about routine activities shortly before he was taken into custody. The images have become a key visual reference point in a case that has shocked Hollywood and the wider public.

Surveillance Footage Shows Reiner Inside Gas Station

In one clip, Reiner is seen inside a gas station convenience store in the Exposition Park area of Los Angeles. Wearing a hat and carrying a red backpack, he walks through the aisles before stopping at the counter to purchase a drink.

The video shows him waiting in line, appearing composed, while another individual believed to be a law enforcement officer briefly enters the store. Authorities have not said whether officers were already tracking Reiner at that point or if the encounter was coincidental.

Investigators say the footage helps establish Reiner’s whereabouts after he allegedly left his parents’ Brentwood home.

Arrest Captured on Camera Near Exposition Park

Additional video shows the moments immediately before Reiner’s arrest near the intersection of Exposition Boulevard and Vermont Avenue. In the footage, an LAPD vehicle speeds into the area and stops nearby.

As an officer exits the patrol car, Reiner is seen raising his hands before being detained without apparent resistance. He is then handcuffed and taken into custody. The arrest occurred Sunday evening, several hours after Rob Reiner, 78, and Michele Singer Reiner, 68, were found dead inside their home.

Authorities later confirmed that Reiner was arrested on suspicion of murder and transferred to custody pending formal charges.

Charges Filed in High-Profile Case

On Tuesday, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced that Nick Reiner has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder. Prosecutors also alleged the special circumstance of multiple murders, along with an enhancement claiming he personally used a dangerous and deadly weapon, identified as a knife.

If convicted, the charges carry the possibility of life in prison without parole.

Attorney Addresses Court Delay and Medical Screening

Reiner’s attorney, Alan Jackson, told reporters that his client had not yet appeared in court because he was still undergoing mandatory medical clearance. Jackson described the delay as a procedural issue required by the sheriff’s department before an inmate can be presented to a judge.

Jackson said he expects Reiner to be medically cleared in the coming days, at which point an initial court appearance will be scheduled.

Background of Family and Prior Concerns

Sources have told investigators that Reiner had a visible argument with his father at a holiday party hosted by Conan O’Brien the night before the killings. Witnesses also described his behavior at the event as erratic.

Reiner has previously spoken publicly about his long struggle with drug addiction, which began in his teens. In 2016, he co-wrote the film Being Charlie with his father, a project that explored addiction and a strained father-son relationship.

Rob Reiner was a towering figure in Hollywood, known for directing iconic films such as The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally…, Stand By Me, This Is Spinal Tap, and A Few Good Men. His death, alongside that of his wife Michele, has prompted an outpouring of grief from the entertainment industry as the criminal case against their son continues to unfold.
