Rob Reiner's daughter who found his body made chilling comment to police about her brother

Hollywood legend Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer were found dead inside their Brentwood mansion just hours after their son, Nick Reiner, was said to have caused chaos at Conan O'Brien's holiday party, People reports.

Reiner, 78, had confided to friends that he and his wife were scared for their son’s mental health. According to those present, Nick was "acting crazy" and asking people if they were famous. He was described as "freaking everyone out" at the party. The next day, the couple was discovered brutally murdered, with their throats slit, per The US Sun.

Police accuse Nick, 32, of being responsible for their deaths. He is currently being held without bail.

Reiner feared Nick's 'deteriorating' mental health

Reiner’s concerns weren’t new. Friends say the director and his wife had long been worried about their son’s state of mind. “Rob had been telling people that they’re scared for Nick and scared that his mental state was deteriorating. These poor people did everything to help this kid,” one friend told the New York Post.

Nick, who has openly spoken about his past drug use, once admitted in a 2018 episode of the podcast Dopey, “I got totally spun out on uppers — I think it was coke and something else — and I was up for days on end,” adding that he “punched” appliances around a guest house he was staying in.

A friend said the Reiners wanted Nick to go to rehab, but he refused facility treatment and insisted on getting help from home. At the time of his arrest, his sister Romy, 28, told police (according to TMZ) he should be a suspect and described him as “dangerous.”

Nick was arrested 15 miles from the family home at a subway station in Exposition Park. Authorities say he’ll appear in court on Tuesday.

Hollywood reacts to Reiner’s death

Tributes from the entertainment industry poured in following the shocking news.

Jerry Seinfeld posted, “Our show would have never happened without him. He saw something no one else could.” He added that working with Reiner “seemed unreal” and called the couple’s death “impossibly sad.”

Jimmy Fallon remembered the last time Reiner appeared on his show, saying, “I hugged him and we didn't let go hugging all the way to the guest chair.” Fallon called him “one of the smartest and funniest people I've ever met.”

Fox News’ Laura Ingraham called Reiner a “legend” and said, “We strongly disagreed on politics, but… we had a respectful conversation.”

Director Paul Feig revealed on X that he had invited Reiner to his film premiere that very night, calling him “one of my heroes.” Meanwhile, James Woods became emotional on live TV as he spoke of how Reiner “literally saved my career.”

Seth Meyers, visibly shaken, delivered a heartfelt monologue about Reiner’s impact on people both professionally and personally. “Rob was known for getting the best out of people,” he said, before condemning Trump’s controversial post.

Josh Gad also slammed President Trump for using Reiner’s death to promote a political message, calling him a “f***ing psychopath” on Threads.

Nick Reiner under suicide watch

Following his arrest, Nick was placed on suicide watch as reported by The New York Post. Family friend Heather Michaels told Fox News he had been "in and out" of the Reiner home but was not consistently living there.
