A bar manager has spoken out about allegedly hosting Sophie Turner at his venue - just days before the news broke that she was splitting from husband Joe Jonas.
It seems like Turner, perhaps best known for her iconic role as Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones, had a blast partying in Birmingham in the UK. Just days before her divorce from the singer was announced, the actress was spotted letting her hair down in photos that have now been circulated on social media.
Turner and Jonas, who were married for four years and share two children, have recently hit headlines after it was reported that the latter had filed for divorce, citing an "irrevocably broken" marriage. Per NBC News, the divorce filing by Jonas, described as "unhappy" and looking for a "last resort," was officially submitted on September 5, 2023.
As reported by TMZ, sources have claimed that the couple's lifestyle differences have been a factor in the decision to split - with Jonas allegedly preferring a quiet life at home, contrasting with Sophie's love for the "party scene".
Now, after Turner's recent night out at the DropShot bar in Digbeth, Birmingham, bar manager Herzon Stephenson has opened up about the actress's mood that night.
The event was reportedly a wrap party to celebrate the end of filming in the city for Turner's upcoming ITV series, Joan.
Stephenson told MailOnline: "She was great company and a really good laugh. You would never have thought that she was going through a divorce."
The apparently two shared stories of their partying days in the West Midlands, having common friends and frequenting places like the Smack nightclub in Leamington Spa. "She was reminiscing about those days of going out, dancing, and getting drunk," Stephenson added.
"Sophie's a real party girl and wanted the night to continue so she was talking about going on to somewhere else with her friends, even though she was pretty hammered," Stephenson added. "But that didn't surprise me."
Sadly, just four days after the party, the news broke about Joe officially filing for divorce. A report by TMZ suggests footage from the couple's Ring doorbell security camera was the 'final straw', but specifics remain undisclosed.
Stephenson has also claimed that, after sharing photos and videos with Sophie on Instagram, he was ordered to take them down by her legal team, which he has refused. He insists that the evening was not a "paid for" private event and that he closed the bar to the public due to Turner being a big star. "We have to benefit from that in some way by getting as much exposure as possible. That's what businesses do," he says.
Despite the fanfare, both Sophie and Joe have requested privacy during this difficult time. They released a joint statement saying: "After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually agreed to amicably end our marriage."
Turner has previously spoken out about how she missed out on a party lifestyle as she was filming Game of Thrones when she was at university. In a 2019 interview on The Graham Norton Show, Turner expressed regret over missing out on a typical university life, stating: "I wish I could have gone out and drunk a lot and thrown up in the middle of a club without it being photographed."
