A Hooters waitress has recently surprised her followers on TikTok after she revealed how much she makes in tips during a week.
Posting to the video-sharing platform, Hooters waitress Taylor Basye gave her followers a look into what she's earning at the popular sports bar.
After starting the video by explaining that people were asking her to disclose how much she earns, the 19-year-old started counting her Monday night tips, which came up to a grand total of $309.
$309 just in tips for a six-hour shift? Wow!
Basye then went on to earn an impressive haul for every other day of the week that she worked too.
On Thursday she earned $243, and on Friday her tips added up to $333.
Then, on New Year's Eve, which fell on a Saturday night, she got $86, which is significantly lower than her prior shifts.
The Hooters server went on to explain that some nights just happen to be like that, pointing out that she only served approximately six tables in a four-to-five hour range.
Then finally, on Sunday, she got $59 to add to her tip collection, which meant that in a single week she earned $1030 just on tips. Basye did add that it was an exceptional week though, because a typical week would see her earnings range from $600-$700.
And of course, the internet was left gobsmacked at the revelation with many thinking of a career change.
"Looks like ima need to start working at hooters," said one user, while another agreed writing: "I need to work at hooters omg."
"Sign me up," a third added.
Someone else pointed out that it probably helps that Basye is attractive, which of course, would be a plus in a job with a uniform that consists of low-cut tops and revealing booty shorts.
A few others compared US wages to those over the pond in the United Kingdom, stating that the differences were "crazy."
"Minimum wage jobs in the uk are £9 a hour... £50 a hour for no experience is crazy," said one UK-based TikTok user.
"1000... a week is crazy the money in USA compare to uk is mad."
And this user depressingly pointed out that the 19-year-old makes "half my weekly pay in two days lol."
While a lot of people might think this is actually an amazing-paying job, let's remember that some Hooters establishments around the country actually pay as little as $2.13 an hour for their standard employment rates. This, in turn, means that a lot of their workers actually depend on making a decent amount of tips to make it worthwhile working there.
