Meghan Markle has asked Buckingham Palace for evidence after a senior aide accused her of "unacceptable behavior" towards staff.

The request came from the Duchess of Sussex's team after the Palace announcde it was launching an official investigation into claims she had bullied employees.

According to The Mail on Sunday, Markle has asked to see the documents, emails and text messages, which allegedly contain the claims made against her.

The Mail reports that the Queen has passed the search request onto Prince Charles, whose closest aides are now conducting a search of files.

Palace aides confirmed their investigation after a complaint email was leaked to The Times newspaper, which contains accusations that Markle bullied royal staff while she and Harry were living in Kensington Palace in October 2018.

The leaked email went on to allege that Markle drove two personal assistants out of the household with her behavior, and seriously undermined the confidence of a third member of staff.

Per BBC News, a spokesperson for Buckingham Palace has since stated:

"We are clearly very concerned about allegations in the Times following claims made by former staff of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

"Accordingly, our HR team will look into the circumstances outlined in the article. Members of staff involved at the time, including those who have left the Household, will be invited to participate to see if lessons can be learned.

"The Royal Household has had a Dignity at Work policy in place for a number of years and does not and will not tolerate bullying or harassment in the workplace."

In response to this, a spokesperson for Meghan Markle replied: "The Duchess is saddened by this latest attack on her character, particularly as someone who has been the target of bullying herself and is deeply committed to supporting those who have experienced pain and trauma.

"She is determined to continue her work building compassion around the world and will keep striving to set an example for doing what is right and doing what is good."

The investigation follows Meghan Markle's widely-publicized interview with Oprah Winfrey, in which Markle alleged that unnamed members of the royal family had been prejudiced towards her because of her race.
