A YouTuber put Attorney General Pam Bondi’s explosive congressional testimony to the test by asking AI if she lied under oath.
On Wednesday (February 11), Bondi appeared before the House Judiciary Committee on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC, during a hearing titled 'Oversight of the US Department of Justice.'
However, much of the focus quickly shifted to the DOJ’s release of Epstein-related files.
Since the start of President Donald Trump’s second term, his administration has faced mounting scrutiny over decisions to withhold or heavily redact certain documents related to the disgraced sex trafficker.
The controversy heightened following the passage of the Epstein Files Transparency Act in November.
The bipartisan law requires the Justice Department to publish all documents in an easily searchable format.
While limited redactions are allowed to protect victims’ identities, critics argue that many of the released records contain sweeping blacked-out sections, some of which appear to cover the names of powerful individuals linked to Epstein.
Bondi, a former Florida prosecutor, emphasized her longstanding advocacy for victims of sexual abuse during her opening remarks.
“I have spent my entire career fighting for victims, and I will continue to do so,” she said.
She condemned the disgraced financier and offered an apology to his victims.
“I am deeply sorry for what any victim, any victim, has been through, especially as a result of that monster,” Bondi said.
Heated Clash With Ted Lieu
The hearing grew tense during Bondi’s exchange with Representative Ted Lieu of California.
Lieu pressed the Attorney General on whether Trump had ever attended a party with underage girls. Bondi pushed back forcefully.
“This is so ridiculous,” she responded.
“And they are trying to deflect from all the great things Donald Trump has done.
"There is no evidence that Donald Trump has committed a crime. Everyone knows that.”
Lieu countered that her statement could amount to 'lying under oath', arguing that the 79-year-old's name appears multiple times in the Epstein files.
In one message, Epstein reportedly said Trump 'knew about' the girls, though the message also stated he never received a massage, per The Guardian.
Additionally, Michael Reiter, a former Palm Beach police chief, told the FBI that the president told him 'everyone has known he’s been doing this' as Epstein came under investigation.
Trump’s name also appears in uncorroborated tips contained in the files.
Trump has never been charged with a crime in connection with Epstein and denies any wrongdoing.
“Don’t you ever accuse me of committing a crime,” Bondi yelled back at Lieu.
YouTuber Turns To AI For Answers
Following the fiery exchange, a YouTuber known as @I Ask AI posed the central question to ChatGPT - Did Pam Bondi lie under oath?
According to the YouTuber, the AI provided a surprising assessment of the confrontation.
"That exchange with Ted Lou was explosive for a reason. He didn't just accuse her casually.
"He put specific material on the table.
"A video of Trump and Epstein socializing.
"A witness statement from a former driver claiming he heard a girl allege abuse involving both men. Lou's argument wasn't abstract.
"It was, 'This exists in the files, so how can you say there's no evidence?'"
The AI said Bondi framed her answer very carefully in legal terms, focusing on the claim that there is no evidence that Trump committed a crime.
It pointed out that this wording is narrower than saying no allegations, mentions, or investigative leads exist at all.
However, the bot criticized Bondi for not making that distinction clear during the hearing.
It argued that she did not acknowledge that there are documented claims or tips about Trump in the files, even if they remain unverified or lack corroboration.
"When you're the attorney general, and you know there are documented allegations in the case file, even if they're unverified, reducing everything to no evidence feels strategically incomplete."
"That may be legally defensible. It may protect against overstatement, but it leaves out context that matters to the public," it added.
"Does a secondhand witness statement equal proof of a crime? No. It's a lead. It requires corroboration, but pretending it doesn't exist at all blurs the line between careful lawyering and selective framing."
The YouTuber then pressed further, directly asking whether Bondi lied.
According to the bot, she 'morally lied'.
"It feels like a calculated evasion where she knew about the documented claims and witness statements linking Trump to Epstein circle, yet she flat out denied any evidence of wrongdoing to protect her side," the AI explained.
Several victims of Epstein were seated behind Bondi in the hearing room.
At one point, Representative Pramila Jayapal, a Democrat from Washington, asked those present to raise their hands if they had not met with anyone from the Justice Department.
All of them raised their hands.
Among them was Danielle Bensky, who said she met the financier in 2004 when she was 17 and has accused him of sexually assaulting her.
“There was such a lack of empathy today. There was such a lack of, honestly, humanity today,” Bensky later told an NBC programme.
