A California beauty queen has been left fighting for her life after being hit by a car driven by two brothers, just four and six years old.
The incident occurred on Thursday, after the two brothers stole the keys to their parents' car while they were asleep.
Though both children escaped the crash with non-life threatening injuries, a woman they hit with the car is fighting for her life.
She was walking a friend's dog in California when the crash occurred.
The beauty queen left fighting for her life after the car crash has been named as Kiara Darvonne Bowling, 31.
Last year, Bowling was named Ms. Greater Bay Area at the California Regency International Pageant.
She was also studying at California State University, East Bay, with hopes of starting a law career. At the time of the crash, she was heading into her last semester.
Following the crash, Bowling suffered multiple brain injuries and remains in the hospital.
Her family says her condition right now is "dire."
Talking to KTVU, her sister Christina Blackmon said: "She’s currently still fighting extremely hard for her life.
"She is currently suffering from multiple brain bleeds and facial fractures. We’re just hoping for a true speedy recovery."
In one sign of good news, Bowling is now apparently able to respond to basic commands whilst hospitalized, her family said.
According to police, the crash was caused when two brothers - just four and six years old - got behind the wheel of their parents car, after managing to steal the keys whilst they slept.
They drove at a "high speed" before sideswiping a vehicle coming in the opposite direction.
They went on to hit a woman, now identified as Bowling, and careened to a stop by a home on the corner.
One witness told the New York Post that one of the brothers appeared to be driving the steering wheel of the car, and the other working the gas.
“You didn’t hear her scream,” the witness said. “You didn’t hear any of the kids make any noises. The only sound that you heard was the crash.”
Bowling was walking an emotional support dog named Grizzly who was injured in the crash but ran off. Thankfully, he was found and taken to a vet for care.
The two brothers who stole the car are said to be in a stable condition, the six-year old broke his leg and the four-year old suffered a concussion.
Their parents are cooperating with the investigation.

A woman was seriously injured on Thursday after she was driven by a car stolen by two young brothers from their parents.
The boys, aged seven and four respectively, were said to have taken the keys to their parents' car while they were asleep, according to their uncle who spoke to reporters after the incident.
The collision happened in Oakland, California. The two brothers were hospitalized and the woman struck in the crash remains in a critical condition too.
But what actually happened in this early morning joyride gone wrong?
In an interview with KGO-TV the boys' uncle told reporters that the brothers had taken the key to their parents car, a Toyota sedan, when then they had both been sleeping and taken it for a ride.
Surveillance footage shows the sedan speeding northbound on 35th Avenue in Oakland at around 9:15AM, police say that the crash occurred 15 minutes later, at 9:30AM.
Talking to People, Oakland police confirmed that the stolen car was already making quite a mess before the collision.
The Toyota had sideswiped a vehicle while traveling in the opposite direction. Following this, the driver of the car had lost control and struck the woman, who was on a crosswalk walking her dog.
Police told reporters that the crash only happened several blocks away from the boys' home.
The two brothers were taken to hospital in a stable condition. Their uncle said that the seven-year-old had suffered a broken leg, while the four-year-old had a concussion.
According to police, the parents of the boys are co-operating with the investigation into the crash.
Authorities are now focused on determining how the boys were able to access the Toyota and drive it away from the property.
Footage from ABC7 news shows the state of the Toyota sedan after the crash with its front half completely crushed up against a grass bank.
The woman involved in the crash, who was struck by the Toyota sedan being driven by the brothers while walking her dog that morning, was taken to the hospital and is said to be in a critical condition.
She was struck while using a crosswalk near 35th Avenue and Mangels Avenue in Oakland, California.
The incident occurred at 9:30AM, around 15 minutes after the Toyota was spotted speeding.
A witness to the accident, Lavelle Shah-Marquis, told reporters: "I pray she is OK, but it was bad."
A tragic incident in Wimbledon, south-west London, has claimed the life of a second young girl after a car crashed into a local school last Thursday. The Metropolitan Police have identified eight-year-old Nuria Sajjad as the second victim of this heartbreaking accident.
Selena Lau, also aged eight, tragically lost her life in the immediate aftermath of the incident. The local community came together to pay their respects to Selena over the weekend, describing her as an "intelligent and cheeky girl" who was "adored and loved by everyone".
In a poignant statement issued by the police on Sunday, Nuria's family remembered her as the "light of our lives". The grieving family said: "It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Nuria on Sunday, 9 July 2023. Nuria was the light of our lives. She embodied joy, kindness and generosity and she was loved by all around her.
"We would like to thank the efforts of the emergency services, all the extraordinary staff at St George’s Hospital, the parents of Nuria’s class fellows and staff of the Study Prep for all they have done to ease Nuria’s journey. We request that our privacy is respected at this difficult time."
The crash occurred at The Study Preparatory School involving a Land Rover and led to multiple casualties. Several individuals were rushed to the hospital for treatment. Police also revealed that a seven-month-old girl was taken to hospital with injuries ultimately deemed non-life threatening.
Thirty-five police vehicles were deployed to the area and police worked with paramedics to give first aid to several people who had been wounded in the incident.
Among the injured, a woman in her 40s remains in serious condition. The driver of the Land Rover, a 46-year-old woman, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. She has since been released on bail until late July.
At the time of the incident, she was taken to hospital, with her condition being assessed as non-life threatening.
As the investigation unfolds, the police are requesting the public to refrain from speculating about the incident, stating it is not being treated as terror-related.
During the time of the incident, the school had been hosting an end-of-semester tea party. Tragically, the vehicle broke through the school fence and crashed into a building. Emergency services, including 35 police vehicles and 15 ambulances from the London Ambulance Service, were dispatched to the scene, treating 16 people.
The Study Preparatory School, a private girls' school located just a mile from the globally renowned All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, is now closed until September. To aid those affected by this tragedy, Merton Council is providing counselling support to the affected families, pupils, and staff at the school.
Six girls have tragically been killed in a car crash on a Tennessee highway in the early hours of Sunday (March 26).
As reported by NBC News, a vehicle was found upside down with extensive damage by first responders in Robertson County, about 30 miles north of Nashville, just before 2:00AM on Sunday (March 26).
It has been reported that the six girls - who were between the ages of one and 18 - were believed to have passed away after they were thrown out of the vehicle, the Robertson County Emergency Medical Services department revealed.
In addition to this, two adults were injured in the incident, including a woman who was hurt after also being ejected from the vehicle. She was transported by air ambulance to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center while a man who was in the car sustained minor injuries and was taken to the TriStar Skyline Trauma Center in Nashville.
According to ABC News, officials have disclosed that a second vehicle - whose driver was not injured in the crash - was discovered near the damaged car.
The deadly crash took place on I-24 near Pleasant View and Springfield, and a section of the highway was closed for hours before reopening later Sunday. A total of four Advanced Life Support ambulances responded to the scene, along with one air ambulance.
Robertson County Emergency Medical Services Director Brent-Dyer spoke to local outlet WSMV about the traumatic scene, commenting: "It's one of the hardest things we'll ever do, as anybody in emergency services, is to realize that you can't do something for a child. Something like this would shock anybody. We are still human."
While the details surrounding the crash are unclear, such as whether the victims were wearing seat belts or properly restrained, Dyer pleaded with drivers to make sure that children are safely secured in cars.
"I beg people to put your children in the proper restraint devices and I beg everyone driving on the road to think about the outcome of impatience and the outcome of intolerance," Dyer said.
Robertson County EMS has also issued a statement on the heartbreaking accident and revealed that mental health and counseling services for responders have been organized.
"Our office recognizes the incredible difficulty of this scene," the statement read, per People. "Please keep the families and persons involved in your thoughts and prayers."
The victims' identities have not been revealed. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
Kadance Fredericksen - an 18-year-old beauty pageant queen and founder of the Kada’s Promise charity initiative - tragically lost her life in a head-on car crash on a Florida highway.
The horrific tragedy came just one week after being awarded a $40,000 college scholarship, per the Daily Mail.
Fredericksen - a former Miss Okaloosa County Teen USA winner - was driving her sedan on State Highway 4 in Baker, Florida, on Monday when she collided with a tractor-trailer driven by a 56-year-old man, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The truck driver suffered minor injuries.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash.
Fredericksen’s journey to success was nothing short of inspirational. Before becoming a beloved pageant competitor and charity founder, she endured homelessness and abuse as a child.
“When I was little, I was abused and neglected by my biological mother and stepfather. During those times, the only thing I had to call my own was a stuffed animal I received as a gift years beforehand,” she told WCJB last year.
After being taken in by her father and adoptive mother, she found stability and turned her pain into purpose, launching Kada’s Promise in 2017.
The initiative provided teddy bears and blankets to children in foster care, abuse shelters, hospitals, and homeless shelters.
“During many dark times in my early childhood, the only thing that I could call my own or that made me feel safe was a single teddy bear that I received as a gift," she recalled. "I carried him with me from house to house, couch to couch, and clutched him tightly in the scariest times.
"It is from these memories that Kada’s Promise was born,” she wrote on the Kada’s Promise website."
Beyond her work with Kada’s Promise, Fredericksen used her pageant platform to raise $25,000 for the Ronald McDonald House, which provides temporary housing for families with children undergoing medical treatment.
Fredericksen was in her final year at Baker School and had been accepted into nine colleges, with plans to become a veterinarian.
Her bright future was further highlighted when she was awarded a $40,000 scholarship from the Ellison McCraney Ingram Foundation — a fund created in honor of a nine-year-old boy who died from a brain tumor in 2021.
She shared her excitement in her final Instagram post on February 7, writing: “This generous support will help shape my future and bring me one step closer to achieving my dreams.
"Thank you to the Ingram family, the foundation, and everyone involved for this amazing honor!”
Fredericksen’s sudden passing has left her school, community, and the pageant world in shock.
Baker School issued a statement offering grief counselors to students, saying: “Please keep the family, the town, and the school in your thoughts as they will all miss and grieve this young lady.”
Tributes have flooded social media, with many remembering her for her kind heart, radiant spirit, and dedication to helping others.
"Such a bright future ahead of her. Accomplished so much in her young life. I pray Kada's Promise will continue to do the great work she was doing," one Instagram user wrote.
“Fly high beautiful! You would light up any room you were in,” one person wrote.

From being crowned Little Miss Northwest Florida in 2017 to competing in Miss Teen Florida last year, she carried herself with grace and determination. However, in her short life, Fredericksen’s impact transcended pageantry, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and service.

Social media users are stunned after a TikTok star recounted a series of unfortunate events that included a broken jaw, a brain tumor, and a car crash.
Australian actress Alli McLaren - who goes by the handle @notallialicee - posted a video about the nightmarish event she experienced on the social media platform.
"I’m that friend that lives that ‘can’t catch a break dramatic lifestyle," the 30-year-old content creator sarcastically said in her viral TikTok post.
Alli's suffering first started when she was "randomly walking" in downtown Los Angeles one day and then a homeless person came and punched her in the face.

But during her battle with pneumonia, she fell and banged her head, which triggered a traumatic brain injury so she had to get brain surgery to "get the tumor out".
However, the misery didn't stop there as the aspiring actress had "start radiation" shortly after her brain surgery because the doctors were unable to get all the noncancerous tumors out.
Allie then revealed that when she was on her way to her hospital treatment for her tumor, she "got ran over by a car" that failed to brake at a stop sign. According to the New York Post, the incident left her with two broken feet.
Upon seeing her video - which has amassed 1.6 million views and 267.7K likes on the social media platform - many people shared their reactions to her painful predicaments.

"So maybe, he (the homeless person) helped me find it or maybe he helped cause it?" she questioned.
According to The Post, Alli has remained optimistic about the future and said: "I think I stay strong by knowing it can’t be like this forever and also knowing that one day I’m going to wake up and I won’t be in pain anymore."
"I do believe that everything happens for a reason," she added.
