Barron Trump is reportedly ‘determined’ to lose the accent that he inherited from his mother, Melania Trump.
To be fair, he could have ended up speaking more like his father, so maybe it’s better that he got his voice predominantly from his mom.
Not a great deal is known about the youngest of Donald Trump’s sons.
Despite not sharing one of his parents with his more well-known siblings Don Jr., Eric, and Ivanka, Barron is still the subject of much speculation and is very obviously a Trump.
His mother is fiercely protective of his privacy and has threatened media outlets in the past if they get too close to her only son.
With his father leading a busy life in business and then politics, Barron has largely been raised by his Slovenian mother and her parents, Amalija and Viktor Knavs, and reportedly has a heavy Slovenian accent as a result.
However, he appears desperate to shake that accent and has been trying to adopt a more traditional American accent when he speaks.
A White House insider said that Barron is ‘very focused on how he presents himself now’.
Could that point to a future in politics or public life? We’ll have to wait and see.
Even though he is only ever seen at public events fleetingly, Barron is apparently keen to ‘be confident when he speaks’, the source told celebrity journalist Rob Shuter.
It comes after a clip of Barron as a child speaking with a thick accent went viral.
Speaking to Larry King, Melania herself has opened up on whether her son has taken on her accent as a result of his upbringing.
King asked the First Lady about whether he has an accent, to which she replied: “He does.”
She went on to explain that Barron speaks three languages and spends a lot of his time with her.
In that same interview, Donald Trump clarified his position.
“I think it’s great. Anything he does is OK with me,” he said.
As far as Barron’s upbringing goes, the insider told Shuter: “Barron was raised primarily by his mother and his grandparents.
“Even as he grows older, Melania watches over him closely.
“She wants him to have a normal life, free from cameras and public pressure, while still giving him the tools he needs to proceed.”
The youngest Trump child is currently studying at NYU’s Washington campus and has broken with tradition to remain living at home, which also helps to keep him out of any unwanted spotlight.
According to the insiders, he wants to tone up his voice, not to remove his accent altogether.
That will allow him to be ‘confident’ and ‘thoughtful [and] deliberate when he speaks.
That will be a useful trait for someone who is likely to have a lot of attention put onto whatever he says.
