Eric Trump hits back at 'leaked messages' about allegedly 'rigging' White House UFC event
Eric Trump has dismissed screenshots of an alleged conversation with UFC commentator Daniel Cormier, insisting the messages were fabricated and generated using artificial intelligence.
Trump, 42, the son of President Donald Trump, serves as executive vice-president of the Trump Organization. He has frequently represented both the family business and his father's political interests at public events, and was among the high-profile guests in attendance at the White House for UFC Freedom 250.
The controversy began after Cormier shared a screenshot on X that appeared to show an account claiming to belong to Trump asking whether any fighters on the UFC Freedom 250 card were injured and whether any bouts would be "rigged". The post was later deleted.
Alongside the screenshot, Cormier wrote: "I'm probably going to get a lot of flak for bringing this to light, however I refuse to stay silent. Shame on anyone trying to ruin this beautiful event."
Trump calls screenshots ‘completely fake’
Trump strongly denied any involvement in the alleged exchange.
In a post on X, he wrote: "This is completely fake! I have never reached out to Daniel. In fact, this is scary."
He added: "We are aware of the fake, AI generated screenshots being circulated online. I have never spoken to Daniel. He has since deleted his post, which confirms it was clearly fabricated."
Cormier also appeared to reject the authenticity of the messages, posting: "are people this dumb?" Trump later replied: "thanks Daniel".
White House event draws attention
The disputed posts surfaced ahead of UFC Freedom 250, an event held at the White House on Sunday. The occasion took place on President Trump's 80th birthday and formed part of celebrations marking 250 years of American independence.
Eric Trump attended the event in Washington DC, where he watched the action from the South Lawn of the White House.
Cormier, 47, is a former UFC light-heavyweight and heavyweight champion and worked on the broadcast as an analyst throughout the event.
He is one of the most recognizable figures in mixed martial arts, having enjoyed a Hall of Fame-worthy career that saw him capture both the UFC light-heavyweight and heavyweight titles.
Since retiring from competition, he has become a prominent part of the promotion's broadcast team, regularly providing analysis and commentary for some of the sport's biggest events.
