A formerly homeless man who saved a baby in a stroller from rolling toward speeding traffic on his way home from an interview has since been offered five jobs.
On May 1, a good samaritan named Ron Nessman was at the right place at the right time as he had just come out of a job interview at an Applebee's restaurant in Southern California when the potentially tragic incident occurred.
As he was sat on a bench, he saw a stroller rolling towards a busy road while a woman - who was discovered to be the baby's great aunt - struggled to stand up and was unable to catch the stroller after stumbling to the ground due to strong winds.
Luckily, Nessman rushed over and stopped the stroller from making its way down to the driveway and into the path of incoming vehicles.
Watch the video below:During his interview with KCAL News, Nessman revealed that he "didn’t even have time" to think about saving the baby, explaining: "You just react.
"I said, you know, 'I got it!' Because I felt so bad for the lady. I got nephews and nieces. I can imagine something like that," he continued. "I wouldn’t have been able to live with myself if I did nothing, of course. I’m just glad I realized it and was on it."
Per People, he shared more details of the scary ordeal and said that he went back to help the woman - who is believed to be in her sixties - she "was crying" and "in shock".
"Her knees were bleeding, she was traumatized from falling and from the baby going into traffic. I can only imagine what was going on in her head. It was heart-wrenching," he said.

Since Nessman's heroic act, he has been offered at least five jobs which range from painting to driving a truck - which was his former occupation.
However, he told the TV station that while he is grateful for the roles, he is unable to accept them because of his lack of transportation. He added that if it's a job within a bus ride's distance then he can get there.
Nevertheless, the former truck driver ended up accepting the position he'd initially interviewed for before the harrowing incident. He told NBC San Diego that he will be working at Applebee's as a dishwasher.
"I'll earn everything I get so with that in mind, you know, I appreciate the opportunity that Applebee's has given me. It's really cool," he remarked.
According to the restaurant franchise's General Manager Emily Canady, the viral video had nothing to do with the company's choice to employ the man.
"He's a great guy and he was a great candidate, and he'll definitely fit with us here in Team Victorville at Applebee’s," the manager explained, per the publication.
Nessman had been homeless for eight years and is now living with his sister. He expressed his excitement for the next chapter in his life and added that despite the donations people have raised for him online, he wants to be able to make his own money.
"I gotta come to work tomorrow and I can hardly wait to start doing what I do, you know what I mean? It's going to be a good feeling," he said.
The man recently moved to Hesperia to rebuild his life after his girlfriend passed away in 2018. He said that her death was "sudden" and made him not "want to do anything" so he became homeless shortly after.
He shared that if he didn't stop the stroller then he "wouldn't be able to live" with himself, and noted that he hopes the situation will remind parents to make sure they always lock the wheels.
