Influencer makes discovery about husband after hiring private investigator - it wasn't just an affair
A nurse and social media influencer has opened up about her lengthy divorce battle, claiming Mississippi's divorce laws allowed her former husband to drag out the process for years, and reveals how hiring a private investigator led to the discovery of his infidelity, and something worse.
Hadley Vlahos, better known online as Nurse Hadley, said her ex-husband contested the divorce, resulting in an 11-day trial and more than 300 legal filings before a judge ultimately granted the separation.
Hadley discusses divorce
"It's time for the divorce laws to change," Vlahos said in a recent video.
Mississippi and South Dakota are currently the only US states where a spouse can object to a no-fault divorce and prevent the process from moving forward without proving specific grounds.
Vlahos, who has millions of followers, is a registered nurse and the author of the New York Times bestseller The In-Between: Unforgettable Encounters During Life's Final Moments, which explores her experiences working in hospice care.
Her upcoming memoir, How to Let Go: A Memoir of Finding Peace in Endings, focuses on the end of her marriage and is set to detail the emotional toll of her divorce.
In recent months, Vlahos has shared her experience through a series of Instagram and TikTok posts, describing Mississippi as "one of the only states that doesn't let you get a divorce just because you want one."
She said many people have shared their own divorce stories online, but she struggled to find anyone whose experience matched hers.
"I will not stop sharing my story until no other woman in Mississippi has to go through what I did," the Biloxi mother-of-three said.
Hadley reveals chilling discovery after hiring a private investigator
"‘I hired an investigator to follow my husband,” Hadley stated in the video on TikTok, which has been viewed over half a million times.
"I thought it would be relatively straightforward… and then I’d be granted a divorce.”
When it transpired that her husband was romantically involved with someone else, the private investigator also added other chilling details to the report, including Christopher’s apparent alcoholism, whereby he’d go and treat patients after drinking.
That's a real problem, of course, but even worse than that, Hadley went on to explain how reporting this in their part of the world cannot be done anonymously, so would have to be done in her own name, meaning he'd know straight away.
Then, there was one more chilling realization to come.
He was following her as she was having him followed.
The report also claimed that: “It became clear to the investigator that Christopher Daniel Vlahos is following and watching his soon-to-be ex-wife Hadley Vlahos.”
It continued: “When Mrs Vlahos is not home and goes to her parents' home, Christopher makes passes through the Flamingo Landing Parking lot where he has a visual of their home.”
Terrifying stuff.
She admitted that she had been concerned about him potentially hurting her before, but after this decided to report him under her own name in the hope that it might help the patients as well as herself.
"This was not a decision I made quickly," she said.
