A haunting message was found in the purse of an 82-year-old woman accused of fatally shooting her husband in a nursing home.

Harriet Kay Recker was arrested on September 12 after she allegedly shot and killed her partner, Dennis Recker, at the Preston Health Center in South Carolina.

The violent incident took place just one day after the 81-year-old man was admitted for medical care, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office disclosed to WTOC.

Deputies with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a shooting at around 10:30AM.

According to court testimony and local reports, a neighbor had driven Harriet to the facility that morning. While showing the couple a room, the neighbor stepped out to retrieve an extra chair. Moments later, they heard a loud noise.

A staff member rushed into the room and allegedly saw Harriet holding a revolver while Dennis clutched his chest. Before he died, he reportedly uttered: “She shot me.” Despite life-saving efforts at the scene, Dennis succumbed to his injuries.

Investigators Discover Disturbing Note

During the investigation, deputies discovered a handwritten note in Harriet’s purse, identical to one they later found among financial documents in her home.

“To you all, this has just been too much for me, I so wish I could do it with the wonderful family we have, so many good friends,” the letter read. "We can’t have a life without someone and that someone can’t be me as I am not strong enough or smart enough to do all this."

Financial documents and interviews with witnesses and relatives further supported the investigators’ theory that the killing was calculated.

Community Reacts to Allegations

Harriet was charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. A judge found probable cause in the case, which has now been sent to a grand jury. She remains held without bail at the Beaufort County Jail.

The Preston Health Center, where the shooting took place, provides both short- and long-term care for patients with Alzheimer’s, dementia, and other medical needs. Authorities have not disclosed the exact reason for Dennis’s admission.

Neighbors expressed disbelief at the accusations. Ted Dwemoh, a local pest control worker who serviced the Reckers’ Sun City home, described Harriet as “always loving” and “the nicest person in Sun City.”

Authorities say they are still piecing together the full circumstances surrounding Dennis’s death but the note found in Harriet’s purse may become central to the case.

The moment a father learned that his wife had been anonymously bullying and harassing their 13-year-old daughter for over a year was captured on camera.

The shocking case is the focus of the new Netflix documentary, Unknown Number: The High School Catfish.

The documentary explores how, from October 2020, Lauryn Licari and her then-boyfriend, Owen McKenny, were subjected to a relentless campaign of cruel and threatening messages from an anonymous sender.

The messages began with scathing insults and escalated over the months, involving sexually explicit content and death threats.

At one point, Owen and Lauryn were receiving up to 12 messages a day, each more threatening than the last. The pair feared for their safety, and the harassment became a significant source of distress.

School officials and law enforcement's involvement in trying to track down the stalker led to an unthinkable discovery: Lauryn's mom, Kendra Licari, was behind the messages.

The police investigation uncovered that the texts had been sent from her phone, even though she had taken steps to hide her number.

"The messages coming were originating from you… Your number, even though it was being hidden, was showing up on every message," Isabella County Sheriff Mike Main said, in footage shared in the documentary.

Kendra admitted to being the anonymous stalker, but prosecutors noted that her statement did not amount to a full confession.

The mom was arrested in December 2022 and charged with multiple counts of stalking, including using a computer to commit a crime. In court, she pleaded guilty to two counts of stalking a minor and was sentenced to 19 months to five years in prison.

However, she was released on parole in August 2024.

Despite Kendra's release, she has expressed deep remorse for her actions.

In a tearful interview for the documentary, she spoke about the moment she was exposed. “It was a very high emotional day in our house, a day of confusion,” she says, per Daily Mail. “A day of confusion, unknown answers, shock, a day of not even knowing how we move forward to the next day, so it was a hard day, but at the same time, it was an end."

Kendra also shared that her past trauma, including being assaulted at around the same age Lauryn was when the harassment occurred, contributed to her actions.

"I was somebody different in those moments. I was in an awful place mentally. It was like I had a mask on or something, I didn't even know who I was," she admitted.

Lauryn, now 18, has been deeply affected by the events, though she has found solace in the support of her father, Shawn Licari, who now has full custody of her.

Shawn was devastated when he learned the truth. In a particularly emotional moment captured in the documentary, he recalls the call he received from the sheriff: "I'm sorry, I gotta' tell you this... unfortunately it's your wife."

The dad, visibly shaken, rushed home to confront his wife, where he learned of the extent of her betrayal. The couple’s relationship collapsed in the aftermath, and Shawn said: "I knew there was a lot more to unpack than just what was going on with Lauryn."

The documentary has shocked viewers worldwide, as many struggle to understand why Kendra decided to torment her own daughter.

"I’m a villain, I’m a bad Mum," Kendra said, acknowledging the harsh public reaction to her crime. "But that’s because they know one little piece of my story, they don’t know my whole story."

A woman was left horrified after finding out that her husband was cheating on her with members of his family.

Reddit is now hailed as one of the weirdest and wackiest places on the internet, but just when you think you've heard it all, another utterly insane story comes out of the woodwork to shock you into submission - and this is one of them.

Taking to TikTok, Adriana Kucher, also known by her handle @truthifypodcast, was reading from a thread by a woman who discovered that her husband was cheating on her with his stepmom and stepsister.

"For a little while, I suspected my husband of cheating," Kucher started reading. "I didn't have any justification for thinking or feeling this way but I couldn't stop having this gut feeling that something was wrong.

She then goes on to say how the woman thought she was just being too paranoid so she apologized to her husband and "all was well for a while."

"But that wretched feeling never went away," she said before continuing: "So I decided it was time to hire a private investigator instead of playing inspector gadget myself [and] let me tell you, it was the best thing I ever spent my money on."

Within a month the investigator managed to find out that the husband was in fact cheating, though it shocked the woman to know that it was with his stepmom and stepsister.

"Not only that, but he may be the father of his stepsister's newborn baby."

Now, that's some wild s***.

Instead of exposing the husband, the woman decided that she was going to lay low and make enough money so that she could file for divorce.

"Now a year later... I've still not told anyone," the thread continued and even though he fought her for everything, she still kept quiet about her discovery.

However, she did reveal that she had a plan in place during an update.

After stating that she waited until she had received the money she was owed, she sent out an email to everyone in his family, letting them in on the husband's dirty little secret.

She even went as far as attaching pictures too!

"I sent the email as soon as I saw the money had hit my account. The first to call me was Robert and I picked up. First words out of his mouth was- YOU EVIL A** B****! I replied with- YOUR MOMMA. And I ended the call," she wrote in a new Reddit thread.

"The second person to call me is stepsisters husband. He was just heartbroken. He asked me a ton of questions and he asked for my divorce lawyers information. We also discussed him getting a DNA test for all their kids," she added.

As for the cheating family members, it seems like they got their comeuppance too.

"At some point stepsister and stepmother got in a fight. The fight was so bad that the neighbors called the police. In the scuffle to separate mother and daughter they hurt one of the police officers and were arrested. They are still in jail because neither of them have anyone willing to bail them out."

Upon hearing the full story, TikTok users took to the comments to commend the woman's plan.

"Omg this woman is a genius. Good for her," wrote one person while another added: "This needs to be a lifetime movie! Or snapped lol."

"This did not disappoint. The tea was piping hot today," a third quipped.

Influencer's final heartbreaking posts have taken on a new meaning after she was allegedly killed by her estranged husband, just days after publicly accusing him of being a pedophile.

The Oklahoma mother-of-two, 43, had gone viral on TikTok less than two weeks before her death after sharing a video claiming she had "just found out" her husband, Jeremiah "Shawn" Duffey, 48, was a pedophile.

Gilson joined the popular Netflix documentary trend on the platform, where users jokingly pretend to be interviewed for a future documentary about dramatic events in their lives.

"Preparing for when Netflix drops a documentary about my soon to be ex husband who I just found out is a pedophile," she wrote over the clip.

In the caption, she added: "I wish I was joking."

The video quickly gained attention online and would become one of the final posts she shared before her death.

Gilson and estranged husband found dead

On July 23, Gilson and Duffey were found dead from gunshot wounds at her home in Owasso, Oklahoma, per PEOPLE.

According to KTUL, citing the Owasso Police Department (OPD), Gilson was allegedly shot by Duffey before he fatally shot himself. A child living at the home reportedly made the 911 call.

While police have not officially classified the incident as a murder-suicide, the circumstances are being investigated.

Influencer had sought protection from her husband

Court records show Gilson filed for an emergency protective order against Duffey on July 10, alleging he had a firearm, had threatened suicide and had "went on the run," according to The Oklahoman.

The order required Duffey to leave the family home immediately and remain at least 100 yards away from Gilson.

It was not the first time she had sought legal protection. Court records show Gilson also filed two protective orders against Duffey in 2021, although both cases were dismissed after she did not attend the scheduled hearings.

Allegations involving a teenage girl

The same day Gilson filed for an emergency protective order, another woman also sought a protective order against Duffey on behalf of her 15-year-old daughter.

According to court records, the girl played on a youth basketball team coached by Duffey.

Her mother alleged Duffey kissed and touched the teenager before being caught by another coach.

She further claimed her daughter reported additional inappropriate behaviour, including messages from Duffey, invitations to his hotel room during a tournament and an offer of money "to keep her quiet."

The allegations had not been proven in court at the time of Duffey's death.

Gilson's final posts have resurfaced

After the viral video accusing her estranged husband, Gilson made just two more TikTok posts.

On July 16, she shared a video celebrating a close friendship, writing: "Everyone talks about romantic love but no one talks about how female friendships literally save your life."

Her final post came on July 21, just two days before she was found dead.

Sharing a photo of herself looking out across the water from a boat, Gilson wrote: "May whatever the f*** that was never find me again." In the caption, she added: "Please God. 🫶🏼😔 #traumatok."

Loved ones have launched a GoFundMe to support Gilson's children after her death.

The fundraiser describes Gilson as "an incredible mom" and "an amazing mother, daughter and friend."

"Her children were the center of her world, and everything she did was for them. She loved them fiercely, worked hard to provide for them, and dreamed of giving them the best life possible," they added.

As of this writing, $25,110 has been raised of the $28K target.

Influencer Shay Martin has announced that she has remarried, one year after the death of her husband, Tanner Martin, who documented his battle with stage 4 colon cancer online, touching millions of people.

The young mom shared the emotional news in an Instagram video, revealing that she has found love again while continuing to honor the memory of Tanner, who died in June 2025 at the age of 30, just weeks after the couple welcomed their daughter, AmyLou.

Addressing followers who have supported the influencer family throughout Tanner's cancer journey, Martin reflected on the dramatic changes in her life over the past year.

She began the video by saying: "I've seen a lot of questions asking how AmyLou and I are doing and where we are in life.”

Martin has faced criticism for how quickly she has moved on

Then, Marin revealed that shortly after becoming a mother and losing her husband, she had moved back to Arizona and 'found love again.'

In a statement made to People, Martin said she wanted people to hear directly from her about the conversations she and Tanner had before his death regarding her future and that of their daughter.

She told the magazine: “I’m grateful for all of the people who have followed our story and who genuinely care about AmyLou and I.

"I also understand that people have questions and are curious about where life has taken us.

"That’s one of the reasons I decided to share the reel on Instagram.”

Martin explained that Tanner's greatest wish was for her to eventually find someone who would love AmyLou as his own while respecting the life the couple had built together.

Shay said she believes she has found that person, describing her new husband as someone who has never asked her to leave Tanner's memory behind and who instead honors his legacy within their family.

Martin also emphasized that finding happiness again does not diminish the love she still has for her late husband.

The influencer also spoke candidly about grief, saying she once believed she would never remarry after watching Tanner's health decline during his five-year battle with cancer.

Over time, however, she came to realize that 'there is enough love to give' while acknowledging that she will 'never graduate from grief.'

Tanner and Shay built a large online following by documenting his experience after he was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2020 at the age of 25.

The couple continued sharing updates throughout his treatment, including the announcement of Shay's pregnancy before Tanner's death was confirmed in a pre-recorded farewell video.
