Three people have been killed and at least five more injured during a shooing in Miami, Florida.
Per CBS News, police responded to reports of shots being fired in the parking lot of the College Park Shopping Plaza, in the Miami suburb of Kendall early on Sunday, June 6.
A police spokesperson has confirmed that at least one vehicle, subsequently identified as a red Toyota Camry, pulled into the parking lot near to where a graduation party was taking place.
The gunman then opened fire on people leaving a hookah lounge, wounding several people. The driver of the automobile then sped off and crashed into a wall at the nearby Miami Dade College Kendall campus.
Both the driver and the passenger in the car were killed as a result of the collision, while one of the injured gunshot victims, 20-year-old corrections officer Tyleisha Taylor, died shortly after being taken to the hospital.
Florida Secretary of Corrections Mark Inch later confirmed Taylor's death in a statement to ABC affiliate WPLG in Miami, stating:
"We are devastated to learn a member of our FDC family, Officer Taylor, was killed in a fatal shooting. Our prayers are with her family as they navigate this unimaginable loss."
Police later recovered a firearm in the fuselage of the crashed vehicle, although investigators are currently looking for a second car that may have been involved in the crime.
Commenting on the shooting in a later interview with CBS, Miami-Dade Police Director Freddie Ramirez voiced his frustrations with gun crime in the area, stating:
"Every weekend, it's the same thing. We have to ban together. We did Operation Summer Heat, made a lot of arrests, seized a lot of firearms and here we are again.
"There's a lot of work to do. We have to come together as a community and make this stop."
This incident comes a mere week after a mass shooting by three masked suspects driving an SUV outside a banquet hall in Northwest Miami-Dade left two people dead and a further 21 wounded.
CBS reports that the SUV in question was later pulled from the Biscayne Canal just off NW 154th Street and NW 2nd Avenue, approximately nine miles from the crime scene.
Miami Dade police are offering a reward of $130,000 to anyone who can provide accurate information as to the identities of the three culprits.

A Saturday night in downtown Austin turned into a tragedy in the early hours of Sunday morning when a gunman opened fire inside a packed bar, leaving three people dead and 14 others injured.
The shooting unfolded just before 2:00AM at Buford’s Backyard Beer Garden, located near the University of Texas-Austin, as hundreds of young revelers filled the venue, per the New York Post.
Authorities have confirmed that the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force is now involved in the investigation, signaling that officials are examining whether the motive could be linked to terrorism.
Police say the response was almost immediate. Within 57 seconds of receiving reports of a male suspect firing shots, three officers who were already patrolling the entertainment district arrived on scene.
According to officials speaking at a press conference, officers rushed toward the chaos after hearing reports of gunfire near East 6th Street. Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis described the critical moments officers encountered upon arrival.
“Officers immediately transitioned, came over East 6th to West 6th Street and were faced with the individual with a gun,” Davis said.
The officers confronted the suspect and “returned fire,” killing the unidentified gunman at the scene.
The Austin-American Statesman reported that the suspect entered the bar armed with both a handgun and an assault rifle. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the shooter or any of the victims.
Three people were pronounced dead at the scene.
First responders arrived in under a minute to assist victims. Fourteen people were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. Of those injured, three are currently listed in critical condition, officials confirmed.
The conditions of the remaining 11 wounded victims have not been announced.
Officials emphasized that more details will be shared as the investigation develops throughout the day. Federal agents are working alongside local law enforcement as part of the ongoing probe.
“This is a situation that we are going to be talking about probably all day,” Davis added.
Just hours before the violence broke out, the popular nightlife spot appeared to be buzzing with energy.
Videos shared to the bar’s Instagram story showed a jam-packed crowd of young people drinking and dancing to a DJ.
In the clips, the crowd could be seen singing along to Miley Cyrus’ 'Party in the USA' and Kelly Clarkson’s 'Since You Been Gone' while a smoke machine filled the space.
Moments before shots rang out, partygoers were enjoying live music on a tightly packed dance floor, according to footage posted on the beer garden’s social media.
Buford’s, a large nightlife venue that can hold up to 700 people, features a stage along with basketball, skeeball and video games.
On weekends, the bar operates between 12PM and 2:00AM It was preparing to close for the night when the shooting began.
City leaders addressed the tragedy as the investigation moved forward.
“Our hearts go out to the people that are victims of this and I want to reiterate my thanks to our public safety officers and officials that so rapidly were on the scene, they definitely saved lives,” Austin Mayor Kirk Watson said.
At this stage, authorities have not revealed a motive behind the attack. The involvement of the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force suggests investigators are carefully examining all possibilities.
Officials reiterated that additional information will be released as it becomes available.

Police in Colorado have confirmed that at least five people have died following a mass shooting at a gay nightclub in Colorada Springs.
As reported by CNN, Colorado Springs Police Luitenent Pamela Castro confirmed that five people have lost their lives and a further 18 injured after gunfire broke out at Club Q on Saturday night.
First responders were dispatched to the scene after 9-1-1 calls came in at 11:57PM on November 19.
Colorado Springs Fire Captain Mike Smaldino confirmed that 11 ambulances were required at the scene.
Officials from the FBI were also present.
Castro told reporters: "They did locate one individual who we believe to be the suspect inside. At this point in time, the suspect is being treated, but is in custody."
No comment has been given regarding how the shooting subsided, but Castro did say that the incident was "not an officer-involved shooting".
Additionally, police have provided no motive for the attack.
In the last few hours, representatives for Club Q have taken to the nightclub's Facebook page to share the following message: "Club Q is devastated by the senseless attack on our community.
"Our prays and thoughts are with all the victims and their families and friends. We thank the quick reactions of heroic customers that subdued the gunman and ended this hate attack."
On Google, the establishment describes itself as an "adult-oriented gay and lesbian nightclub hosting theme nights such as karaoke, drag shows, and DJs."
Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee has responded to the shooting on Twitter, writing: "Sickened and horrified by the shooting at Club Q in Colorado Springs.
"The LGBTQ+ community is once again the target of the most terrible violence.
"And devastating attacks like these will only become more common if we don’t fight back. It must stop."
Several outlets, such as CNN and Reuters, are drawing comparisons to the 2016 shooting at gay nightclub in Florida. In what was the worst mass shooting in US history at the time, 49 people lost their lives after a gunman opened fire at an LGBTQ+ nightclub in Orlando.
Our thoughts go out to all of those affected by this tragedy.
