Lawmakers have confirmed that three key names appear in the unredacted Epstein files.
Last month, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) released a new batch of documents under the Epstein Files Transparency Act (EFTA), which was designed to offer greater transparency into the actions of convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.
The release, totaling approximately 3.5 million pages, has sparked significant public attention, but many names and details were redacted, and this has frustrated lawmakers and the public alike.
Now, following a recent review of unredacted portions, several names have surfaced, and this has shed light on the international scope of Epstein's network.
Key Figures Revealed in the Files
Lawmakers confirmed that three prominent figures - Ghislaine Maxwell, Les Wexner, and Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem - appear in the files.
Maxwell, a former socialite, is already known as Epstein’s close associate and was sentenced for her role in the disgraced financier's sex trafficking operation.
According to the New York Post, Les Wexner, a billionaire retail magnate previously identified as a co-conspirator, is noted alongside Maxwell and other key figures like Jean-Luc Brunel, the late French modeling agent, and Lesley Groff, Epstein’s executive assistant.
While his name had been public before, it had been redacted in earlier versions of the documents.
The 'Torture Video' and Sulayem’s Involvement
One of the most shocking revelations to emerge from the unredacted files involves an email from Epstein, which referenced a "torture video" sent to him by Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, the Emirati businessman and CEO of DP World.
The contents of the email, which had previously been blacked out, were finally disclosed after Thomas Massie, a Republican lawmaker from Kentucky, and other lawmakers gained access to the documents.
"Until tonight, no one knew who sent the torture video to Epstein. I went to DOJ, unredacted the email, and reverse searched the email to discover it was a Sultans. Our law requires VICTIM’s information to be redacted, not information of men who sent Epstein torture porn!" he said, per The Cradle.
The newly released documents also contain other emails where Sulayem discussed a foreign exchange student in Dubai and a personal relationship with her.
Epstein's Ties to Global Figures and Trump's Relationship
In addition to these revelations, the files continue to deepen the mystery surrounding Epstein’s ties to high-profile global figures, including President Donald Trump.
According to Rep. Jamie Raskin, a recently reviewed email exchange from 2009 documented a conversation between Epstein's lawyers and the president's legal team, in which Trump said Epstein was never a member of his Mar-a-Lago club, but had been a guest.
This email contradicts the 79-year-old's past claims that he had kicked the sex trafficker out of Mar-a-Lago for inappropriate behavior toward staff.
"I know it seems to be at odds with some things that President Trump has been saying recently about how he had kicked Jeffrey Epstein out of his club or asked him to leave, and this was at least one report that appears to contradict it," Raskin said.
